    摘要: The invention uses an adhesion layer of an amorphous alloy of aluminum. A first aluminum titanium embodiment of the amorphous adhesion layer preferably contains approximately equal amounts of aluminum and titanium (+/−5 at. %). A second embodiment of the amorphous adhesion layer preferably contains approximately equal amounts of aluminum and titanium (+/−5 at. %) and up to 10 at. % Zr with 5 at. % Zr being preferred. A third embodiment is aluminum tantalum preferably including from 15 to 25 at. % tantalum with 20 at. % being preferred. The most preferred compositions are Al50Ti50, Al47.5Ti47.5Zr5 or Al80 Ta20. The adhesion layer is deposited onto the substrate. The substrate can be glass or a metal such as NiP-plated AlMg. The preferred embodiment of media according to the invention is for perpendicular recording and includes a magnetically soft underlayer deposited above the adhesion layer.

    摘要: The present invention is a method to quantitate proteins associated with a disease or disease state comprising the steps of isolating at least two target proteins from a test sample, combining the target proteins with a known concentration of a concatenated oligopeptide standard and a proteinase to form peptide fragments and standard peptide fragments. The concatenated oligopeptide standard comprising at least one peptide having an amino acid sequence substantially similar to a unique amino acid sequence of a peptide fragment of the two target proteins. The peptides for each of the target proteins are joined by proteinase cleavage sites to form the concatenated oligopeptide. Quantitation of the target proteins is determined by comparison of the peptide fragments to the standard peptide fragments using mass spectroscopy.

    摘要: Multiple embodiments of the invention are described which include at least two laminated ferromagnetic layers with differing magnetic anisotropy. The independent magnetic layer farther away from the recording head is selected to have a lower magnetic anisotropy to allow magnetic switching of the multiple magnetic layers to occur at approximately the same head write current even though the recording head field is reduced with increased distance from the head. The improved switching yields improved magnetic recording performance. Laminated magnetic media according to the invention can have a single peak in the normalized DC erase noise vs. head write current plot indicating that the magnetic transitions in the non-slave magnetic layers are written at the same head write current. As a result the magnetic pulse width (PW50) is reduced, overwrite (OW) is improved and media signal-to-noise ratio (SoNR) is improved. Alternatively one or both of the laminated ferromagnetic layers can be replaced with an antiferromagnetically (AF) coupled layer structure that has an AFC-master and an AFC-slave layer separated by a spacer layer selected to antiferromagnetically couple the AFC-master and AFC-slave layers.

    摘要: A thin film structure for a magnetic thin film recording medium including a dual seed layer of RuAl/NiAlB is disclosed. The use of the RuAl/NiAlB structure provides reduced grain size, an increased Mrt orientation ratio (OR), increased SNR and lower PW50 at higher amplitude. The RuAl and NiAlB seed layers each have a B2 crystallographic structure. The RuAl/NiAlB dual seed layer can be used to obtain an underlayer with a preferred in-plane orientation of (200) and a cobalt alloy magnetic film with the preferred in-plane orientation of (11−20).
