    摘要: An illumination optical unit and an image display system including the illumination optical unit. The illumination optical unit comprises a light source which emits light and a dichroic mirror wheel, which includes a plurality of dichroic mirrors, each of which is divided into at least three segments, to sort out at least three color light beams from light incident from the light source and to reflect the light beams as the mirror wheel is rotated by a motor. The image display system comprises the illumination optical unit; an image optical unit which modulates light incident from the illumination optical unit to form an image; and a projection optical unit which projects light from the image optical unit onto a screen. Since light is temporally and spatially divided, light loss is reduced and a high resolution of an image is accomplished.

    摘要: A spiral lens disk and a projection system adopting the same are provided. The spiral lens disk has spirally arranged cylinder lens cells and scrolls incident light by converting the rotation of the cylinder lens cells into rectilinear motion of a cylinder lens array. The projection system includes at least one spiral lens disk such that color scrolling is achieved using a single component to form a color image. Due to a reduction in the number of components, a light, low-price projection system can be obtained, and a single-panel projection system with high light efficiency can also be obtained.

    摘要: A solid immersion mirror (SIM) type objective lens and an optical pickup employing the same. The objective lens has a first curved surface which condenses incident light and a second curved surface surrounding the first curved surface which diverges incident light. A second transmission surface disposed to face the first transmission surface has an area which transmits incident light and a first reflection surface surrounding the second transmission surface which reflects incident light. A second reflection surface which surrounds the second curved reflects incident light. The objective lens realizes an NA of 0.7 or more with a single lens; has a working distance enabling far field recording/reproducing; has a smaller blocking area than that of the conventional SIM; and generates a smaller amount of side lobe. Where the objective lens is adopted in an optical pickup device, generation of jitter during reproduction or cross erasure during recording is minimized.

The display system includes: a display apparatus in which first and second pixel elements are alternately arranged, wherein the first pixel element emits a ray of a left eye image in a first polarization direction, and the second pixel element emits a ray of a right eye image in a second polarization direction; and eyeglasses which include left and right eye filters. The eyeglasses include: a polarizer which separates the rays of the left and right eye images from each other; a polarization switch which switches a polarization direction of a ray; a double refractor which shifts a visible position of a pixel according to a polarization state of the ray switched by the polarization switch; and a controller which operates with an operation of the display apparatus to control the polarization switch.

In the two-dimensional mode, the lenticular unit transmits a single image, and in the three-dimensional mode, the lenticular unit separates an image from the display panel into a right-eye image and a left-eye image. The lenticular unit includes first and second lenticular lens sheets, a half-wave plate interposed between the first and second lenticular lens sheets, which rotates a polarization of incident light by 90 degrees, and first and second electro-optical mediums disposed between the first lenticular lens sheet and the half-wave plate and between the second lenticular lens sheet and the half-wave plate, respectively. First and second electro-optical media have refractive indices with respect to extraordinary rays that vary based on electric fields applied to the first and second electro-optical media.
