    摘要: A cutting insert for a gear milling tool comprises an under side, an opposite upper side that forms a chip surface and is parallel to an extension plane (p), a circumferential edge side that connects the upper side and the under side. A centre axis (A) extends through the under side. A symmetry line (S) is perpendicular to the centre axis. A first cutting edge comprises a primary main cutting edge, a secondary main cutting edge—which are symmetrical in respect of the symmetry line—and a transverse end cutting edge between the primary and the secondary main cutting edge. A normal to the extension plane (p) forms an acute clearance angle with the edge side at least along the first cutting edge so that the cutting insert obtains a positive cutting geometry.

    摘要: A tangential cutting insert includes two opposing end surfaces and a peripheral side surface extending between the two opposing end surfaces. The peripheral side surface includes two opposing major side surfaces connected to two opposing minor side surfaces via corner side surfaces. A peripheral edge is formed at the intersection of each end surface with the peripheral side surface. Each end surface has two raised corners with associated raised corner cutting edges and two lowered corners with associated lowered corner cutting edges. Each of the corner side surfaces includes a concave clearance depression which serves as a relief surface for an associated lowered corner cutting edge. The concave clearance depression extends from its associated lowered corner cutting edge in the direction of, but does not intersect, a raised corner associated with opposite end surface.

    摘要: A drilling and thread forming fastener is provided having a threaded shank and a pilot end. The fastener pilot end in cross section has a major and minor axis intersecting at the fastener center of rotation. A pair of arcuate flutes are disposed in opposed quadrants from a pair of arcuate lands, each of said arcuate flutes and an arcuate land intersecting on the major axis to form a cutting edge of the fastener, the two cutting edges being disposed in a plane containing the center of rotation of the fastener.The fastener construction is adaptable to applications in relatively thick materials including cement or cinder block, and is effective to increase tool life when manufactured by a forging process.

    摘要: A milling cutter includes an array of pockets each having radially extending side walls and a base wall from which radially projects an elongated locating rail. A safety wedge has one surface in engagement with one wall of the pocket and its opposed surface in engagement with one surface of a cutting insert. The latter includes a central hole through which extends a projection extending from the safety wedge. One edge of the cutting insert engages the locating rail, while the opposite surface of the cutting insert is engaged by a wedge surface of a wedge assembly which is connected to the body of the cutting tool, and is selectively operable for shifting of the wedge assembly into wedging engagement with the cutting insert. By this arrangement, the cutting insert is clamped intermediate the safety wedge and the wedge assembly, and the edge of the cutting insert bears against the locating rail. As the milling cutter is rotated, the hard wedge assembly is behind the cutting insert and thus provides protection to the cutter body in the event of a wreck that would destroy the carbide cutting edge of the cutting insert. In addition, the hard safety wedge disposed ahead of the cutting edge protects the body from chip-erosion.

    摘要: Rotary cutting tool has plural circumferentially spaced milled arcuate slots in the end face of the cutter body providing arcuate seats for circular blade inserts which are releasably clamped in the slots. The slots are of sufficient depth to provide adequate support for the blade inserts during the cutting operation, and the slots also provide a preset dimension for the blade inserts as determined by the depth of the slots thus permitting turning of the blade inserts within the slots to present a new cutting edge or replacement of the blade inserts without affecting the cutting diameter of the tool.
