摘要： A vacuum lifting/lowering head comprises a fixed, steadying upper handle adapted, in use, to be gripped by the user, and a movable, lower handle displaceable under the manual control of the user, both handles being suitable for either left or right hand manual operation. An opening is provided in a part of the head, and a valve member is associated with the opening to control the extent of exposure thereof and displaceable by the user's manual movement of the lower handle. The invention also includes a vacuum lifting apparatus provided with such a head.

摘要： In an inflatable lifting device comprising an upper platform to support a load, a lower base platform and a flexible, fluidtight diaphragm interposed between the two platforms for inflation to lift the load, the improvement comprising a diaphragm of truncated conical configuration. In some practices of the invention, two such diaphragms are effectively stacked on top of each other to increase the jacking height of the device. Constructuion of the conical diaphragm provides approximately uniform strength of the diaphragm around its entire periphery. Safety means are provided to prevent over-pressurization of the diaphragm at its maximum lifting height. Means are also provided to prevent collapse of the loaded device in the event the fluid supply line should inadvertantly be disconnected.

摘要： A pneumatic invalid lift comprises a wedge-shaped inflatable air bag for positioning on a seat surface, and a high volume, low pressure vane-type blower for supplying air to the air bag through a flexible hose connection. Air is discharged from the bag through a small-section outlet nozzle. A remote controlled switch is provided for enabling a person using the air bag to operate the motor whereby the bag is inflated when the motor is running and deflated by exhaust of air through the blower and discharge nozzle when the motor is switched off.

摘要： An elastomeric enclosure is initially inflated to a desired pressure by a gas having large molecules incapable of diffusing outwardly from the enclosure, except at a relatively slow rate. When the enclosure is surrounded by ambient air at atmospheric pressure, such air passes into the enclosures by reverse diffusion, thus extracting energy from the ambient sea of air to progressively increase the total pressure in the enclosure to a substantial extent over a period of several months, the pressure then decreasing very slowly over an extended period to its initial inflation pressure, such extended period being as much as about two years or more. This added energy may be used to perform useful work or used in various pneumatic devices to achieve essentially permanent inflation. Decrease in pressure below the initial inflation value continues at a very slow rate over an additional period of many months, and, in fact, several years, with the inflation pressure still remaining at a sufficiently high value which enables the inflated enclosures to still possess a useful life.

摘要： A rescue device for use in combination with a hollow basket used to support a workman. The hollow basket includes a floor and an upwardly projecting peripheral sidewall. The upper edge of the sidewall forms an open mouth for the basket to enable a workman to stand within the basket. The rescue device is arranged to raise the workman out of the basket in the event that the workman becomes incapacitated and comprises an inflatable bag having a top and bottom surface, a rigid plate mounted on the top surface and a flexible tube connected to and communicating with the bag. The bag is disposed in the basket so that its bottom surface is on the floor. The plate encompasses the full area of the floor of the basket. The tube extends upward along the sidewall of the basket so that its free end is located adjacent the mouth of the basket for connection to a supply of gas for inflating the bag to cause the plate to move upward toward the mouth of the basket, thereby raising the workman.

摘要： An inflatable device for removing the forms from molded concrete or the like construction including a soft, inflatable bladder having two flat, opposite sides which are distendable. An elongated handle is provided from one edge of the bladder for manipulating the bag, and a pressurizing conduit communicates with the interior of the bladder for inflating and deflating it. The sides of the bladder may be covered with flexible sheet material for protecting the bladder against punctures during usage. The conduit is connected to a pressurizing source and a control is provided for inflating and deflating the bladder. After the construction has hardened a wedge or spacer device, in cooperation with the inflatable bladder, may be inserted between the form and the surface of the construction whereby the spacer and bladder are progressively stepped across or down the surface of the molded construction.
