    Abstract: An actuator device is disclosed for opening a sliding door comprises a casing or box in which a driven shaft is rotatably carried, wherewith are in rigid rotatory relationship a pinion gear meshing with a rack mounted on the sliding door and a helical gear wheel meshing with a worm screw keyed to a driveshaft driven by an electric motor housed in the casing and including a rotor carried on the driveshaft and arranged between a pair of plates one whereof is rigid with the driveshaft and the other whereof is rotatively coupled to but axially movable with respect to the driveshaft by means of a torque limiter.

    Abstract: A moveable, rollaway door or window panel is provided in a structure having one moveable panel and one fixed panel. The moveable panel, when in its closed position, is substantially co-planar with the fixed panel; and when in its fully open position, it is substantially co-extensive with and on the interior side of the fixed panel. A pair of control rods, one at each side, is concealed within the sash structure of the moveable panel, and is secured at its top and bottom ends to a cam member. Each cam member has a guide member which co-operates with a guide track, and is rotatable with respect thereto. The cam members at the upper ends of the control rod are connected to each other by a tie rod or cable in such a way that rotation of one of the control rods causes an equal rotation in the same direction of rotation of the other of the control rods, thereby assuring planar movement of all four corners of the moveable panel. The structure therefore combines features of both sliding and casement window or door installations.

    Abstract: A device is disclosed for the automatic remote control and locking of a trunk lid or hatchback 1 connected by a hinge to the upper part of an automobile body around a transverse axis 2 and balanced by a stabilizing device. The hatchback 1 may be controlled by means of a rod 12 which is connected at one end to the hatchback and at the other end to a point of a first cogged sector 17 which is caused to rotate, along a predetermined path, by a remote-controlled electric motor 11. The hatchback may, in addition, be automatically locked after folding back onto the body portion of the trunk 3 by mechanical means 13, 18, 31 brought into play by the electric motor once the rod and first sector have stopped working.

    Abstract: A door which is to be swung open and closed to provide access to an enclosure and slid back into the enclosure is provided with one or more hinges rotatably mounted on a shaft to the ends of which there are fixedly mounted gears which positively engage respective racks disposed adjacent the top and bottom of the enclosure and extending along the depth of the enclosure so that as each door is slid in and out of the enclosure there is no rotation of the door in its plane and, hence, no sagging and binding of the door. A portion of each hinge is confined within a guide block which is in turn rotatably connected with the shaft and slidably mounted in a channel adjacent and parallel to the rack so that only the member of the hinge attached to the door is swingable with the pivot of the hinge being rectilinearly slidable with the door along the depth of the enclosure.

    Abstract: A furniture hinge for mounting a furniture door on a furniture body member includes a hinge bracket which is attached to either the door or body member and which includes a flat flange defining an elongated interior slot having spaced teeth forming a rack. A cooperating tooth wheel is nonrotatably attached to the other furniture member, either by means of a striking pin which is driven into a bore hole in the other member or by means of a housing which supports the tooth wheel and which is inserted into the other member, and the tooth wheel meshes with the rack teeth to cause the tooth wheel to run along the rack as the two furniture members are angularly displaced about a pivot axis defined by the axis of the tooth wheel. The crown diameter of the tooth wheel is substantially equal to the width of the bracket slot, and the tooth wheel also includes an outstanding shoulder which has a diameter greater than the width of the slot and which bears against flat surfaces of the bracket flange to inhibit axial movement of the tooth wheel relative to the flange and to guide its movement as it runs along the slot. Various arrangements are disclosed for mounting flush doors as well as superposed doors on a piece of furniture.
