Abstract:
A dovetail arrangement for a closure panel movable in a generally vertical path between open and closed positions with respect to a vehicle body opening, the dovetail arrangement including, on the vehicle body, a retainer and a vertically sliding wedge member and further including, on the closure panel, an elongated striker having a shank with an enlarged tapered head on one end thereof. In the closed position of the closure panel the retainer engages the striker under the enlarged head and the wedge member engages the striker on the taper of the enlarged head thereby cooperating with the retainer to capture the striker and prevent substantially all bodily shiftable relative movement between the closure panel and the vehicle body longitudinally of the closure panel.
Abstract:
A predetermined operational sequence for a pair of closures supported on a vehicle body for independent movement relative to an opening in the vehicle body is maintained by movement sequencing means including a latchbolt engageable on a striker supported on a first of the two closures and operable in a latching position to maintain the first closure in the closed position, a detent lever movable between detenting and releasing positions and operable in the detenting position to maintain the latchbolt in the latching position, a bellcrank with stop means thereon which bellcrank is supported on the vehicle body for movement between an unblocking position and a blocking position in the path of motion of the second of the two closures to prevent movement of the second closure to the closed position, and a substantially inextensible connecting member connecting the detent lever to the bellcrank so that the bellcrank prevents movement of the detent lever from the detenting to the releasing, position when the second closure is in the closed position and the detent lever prevents movement of the bellcrank from the blocking to the unblocking position when the first closure is in the open position.
Abstract:
A control arm pivotally supported on a vehicle body has one end affixed to a closure asymmetrically with respect to the center of gravity of the closure and supports the latter on the vehicle body for generally vertical bodily shiftable movement between open and closed positions relative to an opening in the vehicle body. The control arm is indirectly rigidified by movement synchronizing means which equalize vertical movement of opposite edges of the closure to prevent tilting of the closure and twisting of the control arm.
Abstract:
SPEED-REDUCING TRANSMISSION HAVING A BALL DRIVEN IN AN ORBITAL PATH ABOUT-THE ARMATURE SHAFT OR A DRIVE MOTOR AT A PREDETERMINED SPEED RATIO. THE ORBITING BALL ACTUATES STRAINWAVE-TYPE GEARING THAT FURTHER MULTIPLES THE SPEED RATIO PROVIDED BY THE BALL TO DRIVE AN OUTPUT. THIS TRANSMISSION MAY HAVE ELASTOMERIC PARTS WHICH PROVIDE FOR AUTOMATIC ADJUSTMENT FOR WEAR OF THE TRANSMISSION COMPONENTS AND WHICH REDUCE SLIPPAGE BETWEEN THESE PARTS. A PLURALITY OF THESE TRANSMISSIONS CAN BE READILY COUPLED IN SERIES TO PROVIDE A MULTISTAGE TRANSMISSION FOR PRODUCING LARGE REDUCTION RATIOS.
THERE IS A DIFFERENTIAL REDUCTION DRIVE POSSIBLE BY HAVING STRAIN-WAVE GEARING DRIVE A TRANSMISSION HOUSING RELATIVE TO A SUPPORT IN ONE DIRECTION AT A FIRST SPEED RATIO AND BY HAVING THE OUTPUT SHAFT ROTATABLY DRIVEN BY STRAIN-WAVE GEARING AT A SECOND SPEED RATIO RELATIVE TO THE CASE AND IN AN OPPOSITE DIRECTION TO PRODUCE A DIFFERENTIAL REDUCTION DRIVE. ONE OF THE EMBODIMENTS PROVIDES A MECHANISM FOR UNLOCKING THE DRIVE SO THAT THE OUTPUT MAY FREEWHEEL IN EITHER DIRECTION PERMITTING OVERRIDE MANUAL OPERATION.
