Abstract: The present disclosure provides a system and method for object verification. The method comprises obtaining sensor data, from one or more sensors, the sensor data including measurements of one or more physical properties of a given three-dimensional (3D) object, wherein the sensor data comprises a first measurement of the one or more physical properties from a first perspective and a second measurement of the one or more physical properties from a second perspective, the second perspective being different from the first perspective. The method further comprises comparing the sensor data with reference data, the reference data including measurements of one or more corresponding physical properties of a reference 3D object, and generating, based on the comparing, a verification signal indicating a determined match between the given 3D object and the reference 3D object.

Abstract: This invention provides a system and method for using an area scan sensor of a vision system, in conjunction with an encoder or other knowledge of motion, to capture an accurate measurement of an object larger than a single field of view (FOV) of the sensor. It identifies features/edges of the object, which are tracked from image to image, thereby providing a lightweight way to process the overall extents of the object for dimensioning purposes. Logic automatically determines if the object is longer than the FOV, and thereby causes a sequence of image acquisition snapshots to occur while the moving/conveyed object remains within the FOV until the object is no longer present in the FOV. At that point, acquisition ceases and the individual images are combined as segments in an overall image. These images can be processed to derive overall dimensions of the object based on input application details.

Abstract: Techniques are provided for generation of synthetic 3-dimensional object image variations for training of recognition systems. An example system may include an image synthesizing circuit configured to synthesize a 3D image of the object (including color and depth image pairs) based on a 3D model. The system may also include a background scene generator circuit configured to generate a background for each of the rendered image variations. The system may further include an image pose adjustment circuit configured to adjust the orientation and translation of the object for each of the variations. The system may further include an illumination and visual effect adjustment circuit configured to adjust illumination of the object and the background for each of the variations, and to further adjust visual effects of the object and the background for each of the variations based on application of simulated camera parameters.

Abstract: An optical dimensioning system includes one or more light emitting assemblies configured to project one or more predetermined patterns on an object; an imaging assembly configured to sense light scattered and/or reflected off the object, and to capture an image of the object while the patterns are projected; and a processing assembly configured to analyze the image of the object to determine one or more dimension parameters of the object. The light emitting assembly may include a single piece optical component configured for producing a first pattern and second pattern. The patterns may be distinguishable based on directional filtering, feature detection, feature shift detection, or the like. A method for optical dimensioning includes illuminating an object with at least two detectable patterns; and calculating dimensions of the object by analyzing pattern separate of the elements comprising the projected patterns. One or more pattern generators may produce the patterns.

Abstract: An article recognition device includes an image interface, a distance information interface, a support unit, and a processor. The support unit supports an article at a height equal to or greater than a minimum discrimination distance of a distance sensor from a reference plane of the distance sensor and includes a member of which a distance cannot be measured by the distance sensor. The processor acquires a captured image capturing the article supported by the support unit through the image interface, acquires distance information measured by the distance sensor toward the reference plane through the distance information interface, extracts an area having a height equal to or greater than the minimum discrimination distance from the reference plane as an article area of the article from the captured image based on the distance information, and recognizes the article from an image of the article area.
