Thereafter, when the CPU detects a strike detection signal outputted by the other of the pad sensor, and the rim sensor within a predetermined time, waveform data on a rim-shot sound are read out from the waveform data memory, thereby generating a musical tone signal corresponding thereto before outputting. A sound output unit produces electronic strike sounds corresponding to those musical tone signals, respectively.

Such arrangements not only can variably control a tone, having a tone-color-variation realizing characteristic, in accordance with the input dynamics value but also permits a tone color variation with an enhanced responsiveness without causing the tone color variation to impart a feeing of undesired step-like unsmoothness, thereby synthesizing a tone with a high quality faithfully reproducing a desired tone color variation.

    摘要: Methods for splicing PCM audio frames form modified frames by appending to each frame either a portion of the next preceding frame or the next following frame. According to a first approach, splices are obtained by fading up and fading down a frame end and a frame appendage only at a splice point, and overlapping and combining to provide a crossfade at the splice. Alternatively, every frame end and frame appendage is faded up and faded down, overlapped and combined. A subtractive method of providing complementary fade-up and fade-down reduces rounding errors.

    摘要: In a storage section, there are stored special connecting waveform data for connecting between at least two notes to be generated in succession. The special connecting waveform data contain only a waveform of a succeeding-note region of a waveform connecting portion which is provided for a continuous transition between the at least two notes and which is divided into a preceding-note region and the succeeding-note region. When a connecting tone is to be generated for connecting between two notes in accordance with acquired performance information, a tone waveform connecting between waveforms of the two notes is generated using the special connecting waveform data. With such arrangements, the waveform data of the succeeding-note region are read out without waveform data of the preceding-note region being read out, so that it is possible to reduce a time required for transition from a preceding note to a succeeding note. Thus, in the connecting portion for continuously connecting between tones with no break therebetween, a tone can be synthesized with high quality without involving a tone generating delay in the succeeding note.

    摘要: The present synthesizer includes functionality for changing over from a current note to the following notes that results in natural and expressive combinations and transitions. The method of the present invention incorporates an delay (actual, functional, or look ahead) between receiving control data inputs and generating an output sound. This period of delay is used to modify how notes will be played according to control data inputs for later notes. The input to the synthesizer is typically a time-varying MIDI stream, which may be provided by a musician or a MIDI sequencer from stored data. An actual delay occurs when the synthesizer receives a MIDI stream and buffers it while looking ahead for changeovers between notes. A functional delay occurs in a system in which the synthesizer has knowledge of note changeovers ahead of time. A look ahead delay occurs when the synthesizer queries the sequencer for information about the stored sequence ahead of when the synthesizer needs to generate the output for the sequence.

Two of the loop waveforms are selected and repeatedly read out to thereby form loop-reproduced waveforms corresponding to the selected two loop waveforms. Generation of loop read addresses is carried out in such a way that first and second address signals for reading out first and second loop waveforms, respectively, are caused to loop while maintaining a difference between the first and second addresses corresponding to a difference between the initial phases of the selected loop waveforms. With such arrangements, the loop waveforms can be smoothly combined together in a simplified manner without a need for prestoring waveform data in a previously phase-matched condition, and thus waveform formation rich in controllability and editability is achieved.

One method for synthesis of musical sound includes receiving a stream of packets including a preceding packet and a succeeding packet for reproducing the musical sound continuously along a time axis. Each packet contains identification information effective to specify vector data stored in a first storage device. According to the identification information in the preceding packet, vector data of the succeeding packet is predicted. The predicted vector data is transferred from the first storage device to a second storage device before the succeeding packet is received such that the predicted vector data can be cached in the second storage device. The cached vector data is retrieved from the second storage device when the succeeding packet is received and the identification information contained therein hits the cached vector data to thereby synthesize the musical sound.
