摘要: On a casing of an electronic keyboard instrument, there are provided front speakers, rear speakers and upper speakers as non-front speakers, a woofer speaker, and a vibrator. Tone generator section generates tone signals of tone colors corresponding to tones of various musical instruments. Assignment section adjusts, on a tone-color-by-tone-color basis, tone volume allocations, of the generated tone signals, to the speakers and vibrator. Further, the thus-adjusted tone signals are mixed for each of speaker reproduction systems and vibrator drive system, and then the resultant mixed tone signals of the speaker reproduction systems and vibrator drive system are supplied to corresponding ones of the speakers and vibrator.

摘要: An interactive dynamic musical composition real time music presentation video game system uses individually composed musical compositions stored as building blocks. The building blocks are structured as nodes of a sequential state machine. Transitions between states are defined based on exit point of current state and entrance point into the new state. Game-related parameters can trigger transition from one compositional building block to another. For example, an interactivity variable can keep track of the current state of the video game or some aspect of it. In one example, an adrenaline counter gauging excitement based on the number of game objectives that have been accomplished can be used to control transitions between more relaxed musical states to more exciting and energetic musical states. Transitions can be handled by cross-fading between one music compositional component to another, or by providing transitional compositions. The system can be used to dynamically generate a musical composition in real time. Advantages include allowing a musical composer to compose a number of discrete musical compositions corresponding to different video game or other multimedia presentation states, and providing smooth transition between the different compositions responsive to interactive user input and/or other parameters.

摘要: A waveform reproduction apparatus and process for carrying out waveform reproduction without delays. Waveform data expressing first and latter half portions of a musical tone waveform are stored on a storage device. In response to a tone generation start indicator, waveform data that express first half portions corresponding to the tone generation start indicator are successively read out and corresponding musical tone waveforms are formed. Following this, the waveform data that express latter half portions corresponding to the tone generation start indicator are successively read out and corresponding musical tone waveforms are formed. After the first half portions are successively read out and corresponding musical tone waveforms are formed, if the read-out of the waveform data that express the latter half portions corresponding to the tone generation start indicator is not completed in time, the formation of the musical tone waveforms is based on a specified segment set in the first half portion of the waveform data.

摘要: Upon receipt of a music signal from a music-signal input section, a sound-source separating section in a preprocessing section separates the music signal into a plurality of signals in units of the type of audio source. A physical-property converting section changes a physical property of each of the signals on the basis of control information received from a control-information input section. A signal-synthesizing section synthesizes a plurality of output signals outputted from the physical-property converting section, and supplies the resultant signal to a data-compressing section. For example, in compressed data, a high data rate is allocated to a vocal, whereas low data rates are allocated to other parts. As a result, quality improvement can be implemented in auditory perceptibility of a musically important part.

摘要: A method of generating musical tones and a storage medium storing a program for executing the method are provided. Musical piece data is decomposed into phrases, the musical piece data being formed of pieces of performance data arranged in the order of performance. The pieces of performance data of the musical piece data are analyzed for each of the phrases obtained by the decomposing step. Tone color control data is prepared for each of the phrases according to results of the analyzing. The pieces of performance data of the musical piece data are reproduced by sequentially reading the pieces of performance data at timing at which the pieces of performance data are to be performed to the order of performance. Tone color characteristics of musical tones to be generated based on selected ones of the pieces of performance data which are reproduced by the reproducing step, are controlled according to the tone color control data prepared for ones of the phrases to which the selected ones of the pieces of performance data belong, respectively.

摘要: A remix apparatus and method and slice apparatus and method is provided, which are capable of generating new musical tone pattern data from previously generated musical tone pattern data in real time, and storage media storing programs for implementing these methods. Musical tone pattern data of a predetermined length stored in a flash memory or a RAM is divided into a plurality of musical tone piece data of a length smaller than the predetermined length, and location information indicative of locations in the flash memory where the musical tone piece data obtained by the division are stored is stored in the flash memory. When a user selects one of plural types of stored rearrangement information, the location information on the musical tone piece data is supplied such that the musical tone piece data are rearranged in an order indicated by the selected rearrangement information and the musical tone piece data are sequentially reproduced in an order indicated by the supplied location information, that is, the musical tone piece data are rearranged based on the location information which requires a small amount of data to be controlled. Therefore, new musical tone pattern data can be generated from previously generated musical tone pattern data in real time.

摘要: A software based digital wavetable synthesizer receives musical data from an external source and generates a plurality of digital sample values corresponding to the musical source. The musical source may be a synthesized music source or an actual instrument. In an exemplary embodiment, a sample for each semi-tone for the musical instrument is sampled and stored. A subsequent process analyzes the sampled and selects a single cycle representing that musical instrument at each of the semi-tones. The data is subsequently normalized such that each cycle begins with a zero value and the normalized data is stored in a data structure along with labels indicative of the musical instrument and the musical note. In subsequent use, the user can create synthesized music by selecting the desired instrument and notes. Additional musical rules, such as rules associated with Indian classical music, may be applied to specify the synthesis process. The musical notes, generated in accordance with the associated musical rules are provided to a music output file, which may be converted into a conventional waveform format and played on a conventional sound card. The invention is totally software based and does not rely on synthesized data stored in firmware or hardware on a special musical synthesizer card. Instead, any conventional sound card may be readily used thus allowing portability of the music synthesizer between computing platforms.
