Abstract:
Two modes for releasing a memory, a mode in which the memory is released page by page and a mode in which the memory is released block by block are provided and one of the modes is selected in accordance with the amount of received data to enhance the reliability of the reception and recording with a smaller capacity of image memory. When the reception of the data is started and the image data is filled in the memory block, the recording of the received image to a recording medium is started. Each time the recording of the memory block is completed, the release mode of the image memory is set. Namely, when the reception of the page recorded in the memory hold mode is not yet completed and the remaining capacity of the image memory reaches below a predetermined capacity, the recorded memory blocks are released and the release mode is switched to the memory release mode.

A reader for a facsimile apparatus comprises a line buffer capable of storing at least one line of read raw data and an image buffer for storing encoded image data, for reading an image in synchronism with a line sync signal. The image is continuously read at a period of the line sync signal until the image buffer becomes full, and after the image buffer has become full, the image is read at a period of at least two line sync signals, and when a vacent area of the image buffer subsequently exceeds a predetermined volume, the image is again read continuously at the period of the line sync signal.

The first buffering device is capable of buffering image data transmitted from the input device to the storing means, while the second buffering device is capable of buffering image data transmitted from the memory section to the output device. Each of the first and second buffering devices is adapted to generate a request signal when seeking access to the image bus. The first and second buffering devices are coupled respectively with a device for arbitrating which of the first and second buffering devices is enabled to access the image data bus to transfer image data with the memory section when the arbitrating device concurrently receives request signals from the first and second buffering devices.
Abstract:
The invention provides a device to be connected to a telephone line and, alternatively, to a telephone set or a printer. The device comprises a switch device for automatically operating the one or the other connection according to the signals received through the line. When modulated telefax signals are received, they are transmitted to a modem which transforms the signals to sequential digital signals, these are stored in a buffer memory, at least to an extent corresponding to a line of print, and they are then transformed by a microcircuit to matrix digital signals, which are transferred to the printer. Fax messages transmitted through the telephone line are thus automatically printed out. The invention also provides a printer, which incorporates a modem, a buffer memory and microcircuit for performing the aforesaid operations, through which the printer may selectively be connected to a telephone line, and which may be by-passed to connect the printer to a computer. The invention also provides a message receiving system, which comprises a printer and a device for selectively connecting the system to a computer or to an interface interposed between the printer and a telephone line, which comprises a modem, a buffer memory a and microprocessor for converting sequential digital information to matrix digital information.
Abstract:
An image processing apparatus such as a facsimile system has a CCD sensor for reading an original image, a detection circuit for detecting if a one-line image signal is a nearly black or white signal, a buffer memory for temporarily storing the image signal from the CCD sensor, and a microprocessor CPU for controlling the reading/recording operation in accordance with the detection result of the detection circuit. Image boundaries due to switching between reading and recording operations are eliminated from the reproduced image. A low-torque single motor may be used as a drive source in any of the transmission, reception and copying modes.
Abstract:
A photographic film printer that forms an image on film based upon received or stored digital information is provided. While maintained in a stationary position, the film is exposed in a sequence of raster scans by a rotating disk traversing the photographic film surface. At least one optical film is attached to the rotating disk in a manner that transmits optical energy directed towards the center of the disk to a peripheral location on the disk. Exposure of the film occurs by controlling the emission of optical energy by the fiber in accordance with the received or stored digital information as the peripheral edge of the disk rotates past the film surface.
Abstract:
A transmission control system for a facsimile transceiver allows two facsimile transceivers having different buffer memory sizes and decoding rates different from encoding rates to intercommunicate within a short period of time. Start and stop of encoding and insertion of fill bits are controlled on the basis of an amount of data stored in a buffer memory of a transmitting transceiver, which temporarily stores encoded data, and various conditions associated with a receiving transceiver, so that the number of bits encoded data per line is averaged over a plurality of lines. This decreases the transmission time and, thereby, increases the transmission rate without resorting to an increase in the processing rate of a reader or that of a recorder or an increase in modem rate.
Abstract:
An information processing apparatus for transmitting image data input by sequentially reading documents, with limiting an allowable frame size, includes: a transmission controller, wherein, in a case where the document has an irregular size, the transmission controller transmits the image data to a transmission destination in a preset frame of a first frame size until a rear edge of the document is detected, and if a portion, which is not transmitted, of the image data exists when the rear edge of the document is detected, transmits the portion to the transmission destination in a frame of a second frame size smaller than the first frame size so that the transmitting of the portion is finished before a start of transmission of image data corresponding to a next document.

Abstract:
An original is read by an original reading unit configured to read image data, at least one of the original reading unit and the original is driven by a driving motor in a sub-scan direction, and, when an amount of the image data stored by the image data storing unit becomes equal to or more than a predetermined amount, the rotational speed of the driving motor is reduced according to driving control data provided for each of current rotation angles of the driving motor for finally stopping the driving motor at a predetermined rotation angle, and a speed in a sub-scan direction at which the original reading unit reads the original is reduced. Then, main scan line data are thinned out from the image data according to thin-out data provided for each driving control data, and image data of the original are restored.
