摘要: A method is provided for producing prey organisms such as Artermia and rotifers, for feeding aquacultural organisms in particular at the larval stage. The method comprises cultivating the prey organisms during at least part of their life cycle in an aqueous medium comprising at least one lipid component having a DHA content of at least 30 wt %. The enriched prey organisms preferably have a DHA content of at least 12 wt % of their total lipid content. The prey organisms are suitable feed for larvae of fish including halibut, turbot, bass, and flounder, and crustaceans and molluscs.

摘要: A method of increasing the fish catch in the ocean is to fertilize the ocean surface, creating a short-term phytoplankton bloom, which forms a fish attractive device (FAD). The FAD attracts the fish to a planned location for fishing boats to catch with reduced fishing effort. The bloom may be created by the short-term addition of a chelated iron fertilizer to the ocean surface, and may have a duration of from about 1 to about 2 months.

摘要: The present invention disclosed an artificial reef system having a plurality of tire casings tethered onto a cable-like line which reef system is supported in an upright position by a flotation device and which artificial reef system is anchored to the bottom of the ocean by another tire casing filled with concrete having an anchoring device disposed on its underside. The cable-like line may be monofilament. The reef system of tire casings is disposed upwardly due to the buoyancy of the flotation device and is free to move with the current in a natural manner to the extent that the cable-like allows. The flotation device may have a rigid wall so that it maintains its surface displacement when subjected to underwater pressure.

摘要: A container system for packing live lobsters and other crustaceans has two sidewall components, and optional intermediate wall components, with mating faces formed with uniformly spaced vertical pockets. There may be a separable bottom component as well. The components may be separately molded for interchangeable fit, or cut out from a common core molding as a matched set. Together the y form an open top box, with pockets aligned to form open top cells for holding lobsters, tail first. A top is used to contain the live lobsters under a cooling gel pack or layer of ice. The closed box may be further enclosed in a sleeve and liner for additional security and protection against leakage. The box can be opened one component at a time, exposing only one layer of lobsters at a time, permitting easy inspection and removal of each lobster.

摘要: The invention provides a method and system for producing aquatic specie for consumer consumption within a closed aquaculture system. It provides for growing algae in artificial saltwater under controlled conditions in an algae subsystem, flowing the algae to an artemia subsystem containing adult artemia for feeding the adult artemia which produce smaller artemia, and flowing the algae and artemia to an aquatic specie subsystem containing an immature adult specie. As the immature aquatic specie consumes the algae and artemia, they mature into adult aquatic specie for harvesting. The invention also includes a data acquisition and control subsystem for automated control of the aquaculture system. A unique filtration subsystem accepts waste from the aquatic specie subsystem, pumps the waste through a series of filters, and returns the filtered saltwater to the algae subsystem, the artemia subsystem and the aquatic specie subsystem.

摘要: A shark repellent system for repelling sharks away from an individual during a water activity. The shark repellent system includes a band member and a transmitter unit attached to the band member that transmits underwater sound waves at a frequency undesirable to sharks. The band member is preferably comprised of an elastic material for snugly fitting about an ankle or wrist of an individual. The transmitter preferably includes a control knob connected to a frequency generator for allowing manipulation of the frequency of the sound waves generated by the transmitter unit underwater.

摘要: An idealistic preservation method of aquatic animals capable of reliably suppressing motion functions of large quantities of living fish, etc., and transporting fish while keeping freshness and quality for a long time during transportation so that large quantities of living fish, etc., can be transported in a small space. Fish (10) is scooped with a landing net from a tank and is laid down on a table. An operator preferably wears wet gloves lest his body temperature damages fish. While being held down by one hand, fish (10) is pierced from inside an operculum (21) through the spinal cord (1) by a tool (100). The piercing position is near the medulla oblongata (11) and is extremely effective for lowering the motion function. If the medulla oblongata (11) itself is damaged, fish (10) will die completely. Therefore, caution should be taken not to damage it.
