摘要: An intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP) assembly is configured to be positioned in a patient's descending aorta to provide support to the patient. The IABP assembly includes an expandable member having a distal end and a proximal end and a driveline having a distal end and a proximal end, the distal end of the driveline is configured to be coupleable to the proximal end of the expandable member. The IABP assembly also includes a first driveline pressure sensor device disposed within the driveline that is configured to generate a first driveline pressure signal communicative of the pressure of the environment external to the driveline. The first driveline pressure sensor device includes a first driveline sensing element that is sensitive to changes in ambient pressure and positioned at or proximate to the distal end of the driveline.

摘要: A circulatory assist apparatus comprising: an inflatable pumping balloon having a proximal end joined to an elongated balloon catheter, the balloon catheter having a distal end joined to the pumping balloon and a proximal end, separated from the distal end by a length sufficient to extend from within a circulatory lumen to the outside of a patient's body, for receiving positive and negative pressure pulses from a pump to inflate and deflate the pumping balloon; and a radially expandable frame, mounted on one of a segment extending distally from the pumping balloon, the balloon catheter, and a sleeve tube surrounding the balloon catheter. The expandable frame is manipulate to expand within the circulatory lumen, and functions to space apart the inflatable balloon from the circulatory lumen, having a first diameter in a collapsed configuration for intraluminal delivery and a second, larger diameter in an expanded configuration achieved by said manipulation.

摘要: A catheter directionally conducts a pulsating body fluid and has a line segment defining an inner volume. A pump chamber section is arranged proximally as an extension of the line segment and defines a pump chamber having a frame therein accommodating a balloon. A first opening connects the inner volume to an external volume and a second opening is arranged proximally from the first opening to connect the inner volume to the external volume. A check valve is assigned to the second opening and the check valve includes a valve foil having an aperture formed therein offset from the second opening. A third opening communicates with the pump chamber. The frame is of a shape memory material which provides rigidity for a pulsatile operation of the balloon. During operation, the pulsating body fluid is conveyed in the inner volume directionally between the first and second opening by operating the balloon.

摘要: A system for providing ventricular assistance to a heart of a subject, the system including a balloon configured to be inserted into a ventricle of the heart, wherein the balloon is configured to differentially inflate to thereby urge blood towards a semilunar valve of the ventricle; a fluid conduit in fluid communication with the balloon; a pumping mechanism attached to the fluid conduit; and, a controller configured to control the pumping mechanism to thereby selectively supply fluid into the balloon so as to inflate the balloon at least partially in accordance with the cardiac cycle.

摘要: An apparatus includes a stent configured to releasably support a blood pump within an inner lumen of the stent. The stent can include one or more arms configured to bend radially inward and releasably couple to attachment portions on a housing of the blood pump. The attachment portions of the blood pump housing may include one or more slotted openings for accepting the arms extending from the stent. A magnetic member may assist in coupling the arms to the blood pump housing. When decoupling the blood pump from the stent, a position of the blood pump may be adjusted relative to the stent to cause the arms to be released from the attachment portions. Once released, the arms may bend radially outward in alignment with a diameter of the stent.
