摘要: A cardiac assist system includes a pneumatic effector which is implanted beneath a pericardial sac and over a myocardial surface overlying the patient's left ventricle. A port is implanted and receives a percutaneously introduced cannula. The port is connected to supply a driving gas received from the cannula to the pneumatic effector. An external drive unit includes a pump assembly and control circuitry which operate the pump to actuate the pneumatic effector in response to the patient's sensed heart rhythm. A connecting tube has a pump end connected to the pump and a percutaneous port-connecting end attached to the implantable port.

摘要: A control device for a ventricular assist device (VAD) with settable speed levels. The control device includes an input configured to receive at least one measuring signal related to a physiological condition of the circulatory system of a patient receiving heart assistance by the VAD, where the control device is configured to derive an actual value of at least one characteristic parameter of the heart from one or more of the at least one measuring signal and to provide a refined actual value of the at least one characteristic parameter in which effects of physiologically caused fluctuations are eliminated or reduced. The control device further includes an output configured to output an updated setting value for the speed level, where the control device is configured to produce the updated setting value based on the refined actual value and a predeterminable set-point value.

摘要: The present invention concerns a device for the ventricular emergency support, comprising: a first flexible catheter (2), with a variable transversal section, provided with an extremal balloon (7) for the controlled occlusion of the ascending aorta (AA) of the treated patient; a first pump (12), associated to said first catheter (2) for the aspiration and contemporary input of equivalent blood quantifies into the blood circle of the treated patient; a second flexible catheter (32), with a fixed transversal section, provided with a couple of extremal balloons (34), spaced apart, for the controlled occlusion of the inferior vena cava (CA) and of the superior vena cava (CD) of the treated patient; a second pump (35), associated to said first and second catheter (2, 32) for inflating and deflating said extremal balloons (7, 34) of said first and second catheter (2, 32); an electronic control unit (36) for adjusting and controlling the operational parameters of said first and second pump (12, 35), and for the detection of the cardiac parameters of the treated patient; rechargeable or network means (37, 38) for the power supply of above mentioned components.

摘要: A blood pump assembly comprises a balloon defining an elongated inflatable chamber with an opening at the proximal end. The proximal region of the balloon is substantially cylindro-conically shaped, and tapering toward the proximal end of the balloon, the central region of the balloon is substantially cylindrically shaped with a substantially uniform exterior diameter. The distal region of the balloon is substantially cylindro-conically shaped, the distal region of the balloon tapering toward the distal end of the balloon. The length of the distal region of the balloon is greater than approximately 15% of the combined length of the proximal and central regions of the balloon. A driveline may be coupleable to the opening and have a connection element disposed at a proximal end of the driveline. A radio opaque marker may be integrated into the driveline at a distal end of the driveline.

the distal end (22) being deflectable/steerable with deflection being controlled by an actuator arranged at the proximal handle (10).-

The tube element (6) is arranged for inflating and deflating the inner balloon element (5) during operation. During operation in a pumping operational mode, the combination of first material, dimensions of the cup wall (2a), and dimensions of the outflow element (4) provides a containment force by the cup element (2) counteracting an outward directed force of the inner balloon element (5).

摘要: A method for providing a treatment recommendation to a physician for treating a patient is disclosed. The method comprises determining, from a processor in communication with a patient data repository, a first treatment recommendation based on a combination of selected patient demographics from the patient data repository applicable to the patient, and operational parameters of a plurality of ventricular assist devices (VADs) suitable for treating the patient, the first treatment recommendation having a first survival rate and comprising the use of a first VAD. The method then obtains a first signal from using the first VAD on the patient. The method then determines a second treatment recommendation based on the first signal and the first treatment recommendation, the second treatment recommendation having a second survival rate. The method then provides the second treatment recommendation to the physician if the second survival rate is higher than the first survival rate.
