Abstract: An atomizer comprises a cylinder defining a pump chamber and containing a piston. The chamber communicates with an atomizer nozzle by a valve comprising a valve member which is opened at a predetermined liquid pressure during operation of the piston to pressurize the liquid in the pump chamber. Liquid is fed into the pump chamber through a conduit which projects upwardly into the cylinder. A sleeve rigid with the valve member or the piston engages the conduit during operation of the piston to prevent communication between the conduit and the pump chamber.

Abstract: A sprayer is adapted to suction a liquid under back pressure and squirt the liquid in the atomized form from the nozzle by applying a pressure to the liquid. The sprayer comprises a sprayer body having a suction pipe and a cylinder communicating with the suction pipe, and a cylindrical projection extending from the closed end toward the open end of the cylinder and communicating with the suction pipe. A piston is slidably mounted to the sprayer body in a manner to surround the cylindrical projection. The piston defines such a liquid chamber that when the piston is moved into closest proximity to the closed end of the cylinder the volume of the liquid chamber is made minimal. As a result, when the piston is so moved, a liquid within the chamber is squirted efficiently at high pressure.

Abstract: A dispensing lid and piston pump for a paint pail is provided. A manually actuatable piston pump is connected to a lid which can then be connected to a conventional paint pail. The pump can be operated to dispense paint or similar viscous products from a manufacturer-supplied container into another container, tray or the like. The base of the intake tube of the piston pump is positioned in close proximity to the interior bottom surface of the pail when the lid is installed on the pail.
