摘要:
A portable seismic vessel which is truck transportable to remote survey sites. The vessel is assembled with multiple self-contained, autonomous modules. Different modules provide crew quarters, dining facilities, propulsion, fuel and equipment storage. The vessel is capable of storing and deploying acoustic energy sources, seismic streamers, and recording equipment for processing seismic data. A unique ballast system accommodates structural flexing of the vessel. The vessel is uniquely suitable to efficiently access previously inaccessible survey sites and provides design flexibility in customizing the seismic vessel to unique operating requirements.

A method of constructing or, modifying a watercraft (10) comprises the step of fitting to a main hull (14) of the watercraft an outer hull structure (15) which includes or which forms an outer hull skin (22) by attaching the outer hull structure (15) to the external surface of the main hull (14) of the watercraft. The outer hull structure (15) provides fluid containment spaces (155) between the outer hull skin (22) and the main hull (14) and a communication is provided for flooding the spaces (155) with water from the body of water within which the craft moves. The fluid containment spaces (155) extend above the waterline of the watercraft and means are provided for supplying a pressurized inert gas and/or for applying vacuum pressures to preselected sections of the outer hull structure (15) so that the water levels in those sections can be brought above or below the waterline of the watercraft to increase the overall ballast effect or the buoyancy or to alter the trim of the watercraft (10 ).

A method for joining modules of ships. Ship modules are fabricated in individual bays of fabrication buildings and then moved out of the buildings for attachment together to form the ship on water. This eliminates the need for large dry docks or launch areas. The modules are floated and positioned such that the edges to be joined are adjacent or abutting each other. A flexible strap may be positioned tightly against the joint exterior to prevent water entry or a floating structure may be positioned under the modules such that a circular cross section backing seal the joint to prevent water entry. The interior of the modules is dewatered and the modules are then welded together. The modules may be positioned adjacent each other above the waterline through the use of a barge and dry dock to eliminate the need for dewatering.

A vessel includes an interlocking gunwale system permitting a plurality of like vessels to be disposed in interlocking combination with one another for providing an enlarged work platform. The vessels are configured to permit side-to-side, stern-to-side, bow-to-side, bow-to-bow, bow-to-stern and stern-to-stern engagement. The interlocking gunwales are held in secure interlocking engagement by a tether line and a cleat and post arrangement provided on each vessel. A trailer for stowing and transporting a plurality of the vessels is also disclosed.

A shipbuilding complex having a dry dock with a dock adjacent area, and a flooding chamber which is adjacent to the head of the dry dock and communicates therewith. An intermediate gate divides the dry dock into a main part which is adjacent to the water area, and a head part which is next to the flooding chamber. The flooding chamber and the head part of the dry dock make up a two-level docking basin. A method for building vessels in this shipbuilding complex is as follows. The aft end and components of the parallel middlebody are assembled in the dock apron area and successively transferred to the upper floor of the junction chamber, whereupon they are floated to and placed on the lower floor of the docking basin to be then transferred to the main part of the dry dock. The latter is used to join together the aft end and the parallel middlebody components, whereupon the preassembled fore end is joined to these to complete the hull. In case gas carriers are assembled in the complex, the tanks are mounted in the middlebody afloat.

The present invention relates to a floating platform arrangement with a wharf, which is provided with a number of supporting elements, whereby the platform arrangement in a portion located in its upper part and in normal working position always being above the water level in the wharf being provided with outwards projecting portions along at least two substantially opposite edges, the underside of which being provided with supporting surfaces corresponding to the supporting elements of the wharf and the platform comprising a hull, which is dimensioned in such a way that the platform arrangement can be brought into the wharf with its supporting surfaces placed at levels above the supporting surfaces of the corresponding elements and said platform arrangement being provided with pumping means so that the platform arrangement by introducing water in the hull can be brought to a hanging position in which the supporting surfaces rest against the supporting elements and by draining the water be brought to floating position whereby the platform arrangement can be used for construction purposes in its hanging position and for transportation in its floating position.

A simulated marine vehicle is disclosed as being a sweeper of acoustic, psure, and magnetic energy responsive mines. It includes an exceedingly lightweight, substantially unsinkable hull composed of a plurality of air foam plastic compartments tandemly connected by means of unique fasteners, with a resilient fluid tight sealant therebetween. A suitable ballast material is disposed in the compartments of said hull, an insulated electromagnetic energy generating wire is mounted around said hull, and a motor-generator is mounted on said hull for timely effecting the electrical excitation of said wire.

There is provided a system including both a method and apparatus for use in the transport and positioning of prefabricated modules during the construction of seagoing ships. The system consists of a rotatable cradle for receiving port or starboard bound modules on their side. Rotation of the cradle into a dock positions and uprights the module for reception by a set of hydraulically operated transverse rail cars to traverse the dock between its port and starboard positions and having lift and descend mode functions incorporated as part of its internal structure. The transverse cars lift the module from the cradle and move it to the opposite side of the dock where it deposits the module on blocks by the descend or lowering function, then moves out of the way. A set of longitudinal rail mounted transport cars, tended by a power and control car moves under the deposited module, lifts it and transports it to either a second deposit zone for return to the cradle side of the dock for movement to the ship or transports the module to the ship at the side of the dock where the module was initially deposited. If the longitudinal transport cars deposit the module in the second deposit zone, it is then lifted, traversed across the dock to a third deposit zone by the transverse cars which are again removed and the longitudinal transport cars are again used to lift and transport the module to final position on that side of the ship. While transverse cars need only have forward, reverse, lift and descend functions, the longitudinal cars, which travel along the axis of the ship under construction, have forward, reverse, lift, descend, lateral movement, roll, pitch and yaw functions incorporated therein. These functions are powered and controlled by the attending power and control car. In the preferred embodiment, all systems are operated hydraulically.
