    摘要: A garage door operator includes a head unit held by a supporting structure remote from the garage door. A rail has a first end held by a supporting structure adjacent the door and a second end fixed adjacent to and in alignment with a toothed drive wheel carried by the head unit. The garage door operator further includes an endless drive belt assembly trained about the drive wheel and a pulley held by the rail adjacent the garage door. The belt assembly includes a length of a plastic belt having teeth on one surface thereof matching the teeth on the drive wheel. The belt assembly further includes a trolley for connection to the garage door and a connector for joining one end of the plastic belt to one end of the trolley. The plastic belt has a lower surface to which the belt teeth extend, and the drive wheel has an upper surface to which the wheel teeth extend. Thus, the belt assembly can be installed by moving the plastic belt lower surface over the drive wheel upper surface until the respective sets of teeth are aligned, and moving the belt downwardly to train it about the drive wheel.

The drive blocks have longitudinally aligned lateral slots in which are disposed circumferentially extending radially abutting nested continuous metal band members. The metal band members maintain the drive blocks in a continuous loop. The slots have smooth radius corners to provide stress relief. The radial innermost of the nested bands have a chamfer formed on the inner edges thereof and a longitudinally extending locking bead which mates with the next radial outermost continuous band.

    摘要: An endless power transmission belt having a toothed compression section and method of making the same are provided, the belt being formed substantially of polymeric materials and comprising a tension section, a compression section, and a load-carrying section disposed between the tension section and the compression section and having a transverse centerline, the compression section having an outer layer and an inner layer joined to the outer layer and defining an interface therewith that is substantially uniformly spaced from the load-carrying section by the outer layer throughout substantially the entire width and length of the belt. The compression section has an inner surface in the form of alternating transverse teeth and grooves with the grooves respectively defining the roots of the teeth. The inner layer of the compression section is softer than the outer layer thereof and the roots of the teeth are spaced inwardly from the interface of the layers so that the root of each tooth is spaced from the interface of the layers a distance that is approximately 25% of the distance of that tooth from the centerline of the load-carrying section whereby the inner layer tends to prevent cracking of the belt in the toothed area thereof.

    摘要: The invention relates to a belt and pulley transmission which is preferably but not essentially an infinitely variable transmission. The belt is formed from a stack of individual blocks working in compression and supported on one or more support bands. According to the invention, the blocks are formed from sintered metal material, while the bands which support and compress the blocks are made from aramide fibres, such as KEVLAR. Every tenth block is of sintered bronze, to reduce the risk of seizing, the remaining blocks being of sintered iron.
