摘要： A transmission belt (10) has a contact face (18a) which contacts a pulley when the belt (10) is wound around the pulley. Foreign matter (25) is embedded near the contact face (18a) in the belt (10). The contact face (18a) is worn by the pulley when the belt (10) rotates around the pulley, so that the foreign matter (25) is exposed at the contact face (18a). The foreign matter (25) contacts the pulley to make a warning sound. Due to this, a user of the belt (10) can determine the extent of the wear of the belt (10), and the decrease in the transmissibility of the belt (10) and the pulley.

The layer is etched to expose a portion of the belt body in order to contrast the layer with the belt body. A second layer of polyethylene material may be applied adjacent to the first layer. The second layer is optically distinguishable from the first layer. The first or second layer is etched using cutting, grinding or laser light in order to expose portions of the adjacent layer, or of the belt body, thus providing a method of permanently marking the belt.

摘要： A frictional transmission belt looped over V-ribbed pulleys for torque transmission. The V-ribbed pulleys are coated with anticorrosive paint prior to shipment of an automobile. A surface-active layer 7 made of a surfactant is formed on surfaces of ribs 1a on a belt body 1. With the existence of the surface-active layer, generation of an abnormal sound due to stick slip is suppressed even when the anticorrosion paint has not come off, without impairing the belt transmission capability.

摘要： A flexible drive belt for coupling at least two pulleys such as those found on a motor vehicle engine. The belt is manually installable without adjusting the distance between the pulleys and is particularly useful for temporary or emergency installation in place of a broken drive belt. The belt includes first and second ends which are fastened together to form an endless drive belt. The first end of the belt is provided with a series of openings which accept a corresponding number of projections which extend perpendicular to an intermediate surface of the second belt end. Both the first and second belt ends are provided with intermediate surfaces such that when joined a smooth inner surface is formed. For a permanent installation, locking pins may be disposed within throughbores extending through the sides of the projections such that the projections are prevented from unmating with the openings of the first end. The overall length of the belt may be varied by shortening the ends of the belt to shorten the belt or by varying the placement of the projections with respect to the openings to lengthen the belt.

摘要： An improved combination of a belt and connecting means for the belt for securing accessory attachments thereto. The belt includes a body of flexible resilient material having one or more grooves of arcuate configuration extending into and across one surface of the belt. The connecting means includes a connector member extending through and projecting beyond the portion of the belt adjacent the arcuate surface of the groove and a bearing member attached to one end of the connector member. The bearing member engages the groove and has an arcuate portion substantially conforming to at least a portion of the arcuate surface of the groove to provide for a substantially uniform distribution of stresses over the arcuate surface of the groove as the belt flexes during use. Accessory elements such as cutting blades, rake fingers, pick-up hooks and the like may be attached to the connector member to be carried by the belt as it travels around spaced pulleys.
