    摘要: The orientation of a moving platform with respect to a magnetic field is determined by rotating a 3-component vector magnetometer mounted on the platform about at least two axes in the magnetic field. Changes in the signals from the magnetometer are monitored, and the direction of the magnetic field relative to the platform is computed from the signal changes. It is not necessary to know the DC bias of each magnetometer channel or the component of the background magnetic field along each axis of the magnetometer.

    摘要: A current location updating display for indicating the current location of moving members such as an automobile while updating from time to time based on output from a magnetic azimuth sensor adapted to detect the azimuth of terrestrial magnetism. Output signals from the magnetic azimuth sensor are stored in a data memory after A/D conversion and correction, and a predetermined amount of data read out from the data memory is subject to the averaging processing. With this, plural angle information (sin .theta. and cos .theta.) signals or plural angle (.theta.) signals are averaged out including a signal corresponding to disturbance magnetism. Thus average data signals are integrated by an integrator and then sent to a display portion. Through the averaging processing an azimuthal error is restrained as small as possible, so that the current location or running path of the moving member may be indicated correctly.

    摘要: A system for accurately measuring the direction in which a magnetometer is to be set has a simple construction and is little affected by iron structures on a hull. The system has a magnetometer which includes an excitation source, a magnetic core, an excitation AC winding and an output winding which are both wound around the magnetic core. The output winding is composed of two series connected coils which are wound around the magnetic core and have an equal number of turns. The measuring system applies an alternating current to the core having an amplitude large enough to saturate the magnetic core, and obtains an output from the output winding corresponding to the angle formed between the geomagnetic field direction and an imaginary line obtained by interconnecting the point of connection of the two coils and the central point of the magnetic core.

    摘要: A vehicle's heading indicating apparatus includes a direction-finding sensor having a pair of external field sensing windings wound perpendicular to each other, a sensor exciting oscillator circuit, a signal sampling timing circuit, sample-and-hold circuits, comparators, a logic circuit and an indicator circuit. The output of each of the sensor windings is divided into predetermined (N+1) signal levels such that the heading or direction of travel of a vehicle is detected and indicated in accordance with the combination of each two signal levels sensing the heading, and also large disturbance of the earth's magnetic field is sensed such that the just preceding direction of travel obtained is indicated when the earth's magnetic field is excessively low or high. The apparatus further comprises an abnormal field sensing circuit for generating an abnormal field signal upon detecting that the heading sensing signals from the direction-finding sensor have exceeded a predetermined range of levels and an indicator gives an abnormal field indication in response to the abnormal field signal.

    摘要: A gyroscopic device of the type having a short-circuited rotor winding or conductor so shaped so as to produce axial and radial flux components when rotated in the earth's magnetic field is coupled to a coaxial sensing coil coaxial which gyroscopically stabilized thereby, signals induced in the sensing coil due to the axial flux component of the rotor is used to derive magnetic heading information and there is provided at least one further coil on the supporting body and inductively linked to the sensing coil and rotor such that when the sensing coil is gyroscopically stabilized by the rotor, the coil supported on the supporting body in relation to the gyroscopically stabilized sensing coil is such that any changes in angular orientation of the supporting body relative to the gyroscopically stabilized sensing coil introduces changes in the signal voltages induced in the coils. The further coil on the supporting body may be excited with one or more excitation signals of a frequency different than the angular speed of the rotor and constituted by pairs of orthogonally related coils on all three axes, namely, the roll, pitch and yaw axes. The coil located on the yaw axis is coaxial with the gyroscopically stabilized sensing coil in the rest position and is used for eliminating ambiguities.
