    摘要: A document transport including an endless belt driven by a pair of logic controlled servo motors which precisely move a document from a feeding station through a scanning station and into a stacking station. As documents are passed through the scanning station, images of the characters thereon are projected by a scanner onto a single columnar retina. The scanner includes a single shaft which is repetitively rotated through a preselected arc by a logic controlled servo motor synchronized with the transport control system. An illumination mirror is mounted on one end of the shaft and an image mirror is mounted on the other so that illumination from a lamp is scanned across the characters to be read while the illuminated images are reflected from the image mirror onto the retina.

    摘要: A high speed document sorter-reader having a magnetizing head, at least one read head disposed in a read station, and a transport drum for transporting documents through the read station utilizes a rim-driven roller for rotatably supporting and holding transported documents in close cooperating proximity with the read head, such roller being driven directly by the transport drum and at a uniform speed therewith when a document is not present in the read station, and driven by the transported document upon entry of the document thereinto, clearance of less than the thickness of a document being maintained between the roller and the read head when a document is not present in the read station, whereby the skewing of documents caused by inertial resistance to the leading edges thereof and wear to the roller and head are eliminated.

    摘要: Ticket reading apparatus is disclosed having a moving grooved belt for transporting tickets fed singly thereto by separator rollers controlled by a clutch and brake in relation to information recording speed. Reading is accomplished by at least two detectors spaced to read information along the length of the ticket regardless of end-for-end orientation. Each detector comprises a light source and photocell detector having a narrow rhombic aperture for optimum reading of tickets oriented longitudinally on the belt or only slightly skewed. There is also provided a ticket routing gate assembly operated by a switch enabled by the information recorder to divert tickets to one of two routes and to stack tickets which have not been properly read.

The drum has an open frontal side and a zone with a plurality of channels leading to individual suction openings on the drum. A suction generator has a fan and is so disposed with respect to the drum that the entry opening for the fan passes through the open frontal side. The ratio between the sum of the areas of minimum cross section of the channels and the total area of the zone of the drum covered by the suction openings is more than 0.25.

    摘要: Suction openings in a rotating drum are alternately connected to or disconnected from the vacuum maintained inside the drum, when this is necessary to grip and transport a document, and to release it, respectively. Activation of a group of suction openings is effected by a diaphragm valve, supported by the drum in the interior thereof, with associated pneumatic logical switching means to operate the valve. The switching means have ports, connected to the high and low pneumatic feed levels, existing outside and inside the drum, respectively, and to a pneumatic signal line, providing a connection, insensitive to the drum rotation, with an external, fixed source of control signals for document transport. Other control signals may be generated by the presence or absence of a document on the drum. Various drums of this kind, rotating in opposite directions, are disposed closely together to form a high speed selective document transport system.
