Abstract:
Learning, inference, and decision making with probabilistic user models, including considerations of preferences about outcomes under uncertainty, may be infeasible on portable devices. The subject invention provides systems and methods for pre-computing and storing policies based on offline preference assessment, learning, and reasoning about ideal actions and interactions, given a consideration of uncertainties, preferences, and/or future states of the world. Actions include ideal real-time inquiries about a state, using pre-computed value-of-information analyses. In one specific example, such pre-computation can be applied to automatically generate and distribute call-handling policies for cell phones. The methods can employ learning of Bayesian network user models for predicting whether users will attend meetings on their calendar and the cost of being interrupted by incoming calls should a meeting be attended.
Abstract:
A method and system for ordering a priority for a function to receive any type of processing resources in a system that includes a plurality of functions. The invention includes identifying a plurality of instances of the functions that use processing resources. The invention then determines an importance of at least one of said instances by using fuzzy logic in a fuzzy inference system.
Abstract:
A method of processing incompatibilities for a transportation plan comprising the following steps: Receiving data which is descriptive of orders, data which is descriptive of available vehicles, and data which is descriptive of available cross-docking locations; reading a set of compatibility types, and a set of compatibility rules with respect to the plurality of orders, vehicles, and cross-docking locations, each compatibility rule specifying a combination of two values which refer to first and second attributes of a defined compatibility type, and being indicative whether or not they are compatible; associating a value with each order, the value being descriptive of the characteristics of the order, such that orders having the same characteristics have the same value associated therewith; replacing the data descriptive of the characteristics by the value associated therewith; and outputting the order data resulting from the preceding step.
Abstract:
In one embodiment, the present invention includes a method to obtain a query image and search a database corresponding to object images for a solution set having a maximum similarity to the query image using fuzzy logic. Also in certain embodiments, based on fuzzy logic, the database may be partitioned into multiple sets based on a fuzzy similarity analysis of a measure of the object images to various thresholds.
Abstract:
A high-throughput molecular docking facility is presented for screening combinatorial libraries to identify binding ligands and ultimately pharmaceutical compounds. The facility employs a pre-docking conformational search to generate multiple solution conformations of a ligand. The molecular docking facility includes: generating a binding site image of the protein, the binding site image having multiple hot spots; matching hot spots of the binding site image to atoms in at least one solution conformation of the multiple solution conformations of the ligand to obtain at least one ligand position relative to the protein in a ligand-protein complex formation; and optimizing the at least one ligand position while allowing translation, orientation and rotatable bonds of the ligand to vary, and while holding the protein fixed.
Abstract:
The system of knowledge architecture transforms knowledge of an expert by capturing the knowledge as structured content; and using the structured content in a software format. Knowledge is captured by mapping the structured content into topics and questions and/or a structured document, inputting said structured content, and storing said structured content. The structured content is then prepared for use as a specialized software application, next the prepared structured content is presented to a user where interaction with a user in a software format causes the forming of a narrative end-product based upon the data structure that communicates the findings and opinions of the expert knowledge.
Abstract:
A quantum approach to the economically significant n-player public goods or similar n-player game requires only two-particle entanglement and is thus much easier to implement than games requiring n-particle entanglements. Two-particle entanglements are sufficient to give near optimal expected payoff when players use a simple mixed strategy for which no player can benefit by making different choices. This mechanism can also address some heterogeneous preferences among the players. Quantum games in accordance with the invention can be simulated on classical computers without requiring impractical amounts of processing power for large numbers of players.
Abstract:
A system and method for generating a parametric profile of an object to be modelled is shown which receives input from a user in the form of equations, generates further equations inherent to a profile definition, prioritizes the equations into ranked classes, sorts the prioritized equations to thereby create an ordered solved equation list, solves the sorted equations in the order they appear on the solved equation list and generates a profile of geometry entities constructed from the solutions of the solved equations. The system and method automatically constrain unknown variables within any under-populated equation sets based on heuristics and employ any redundant equations to determine and resolve conflicts among the equations to be used for generating the profile.
Abstract:
A method begins by agriculture equipment collecting current on-site gathered agriculture data regarding an agriculture region and sending at least a representation of the current on-site gathered agriculture data to a host device. The method continues with the host device processing one or more of the at least a representation of the current on-site gathered agriculture data, current off-site gathered agriculture data, historical on-site gathered agriculture data, historical off-site gathered agriculture data, and historical analysis of agriculture predictions regarding the agriculture region to produce a current agriculture prediction for the agriculture region. The method continues with the host device generating an agriculture prescription regarding at least a portion of the agriculture region based on the current agriculture prediction and sending the agriculture prescription to one or more of the agriculture equipment.
Abstract:
An environmental state analysis method includes obtaining key data that affects an environmental state of a designated place, and determining a degree of influence of the key data on the environmental state of the designated place according to the key data by using an analysis model. The key data includes one or more of environmental protection data, pollution source data, and environmental monitoring data. The environmental state includes one or more of a diffusion speed of harmful gas and a concentration of dust in the air.
