摘要： An apparatus for drying and conditioning tobacco leaves, including a heater for heating conditioning air for conditioning tobacco leaves after drying, a temperature controller for controlling the heater so that the temperature of the conditioning air becomes a preset temperature, an atomized water sprayer for cooling the conditioning air fed to the heater, a humidifier for humidifying the conditioning air, and a humidity controller for detecting the moisture content of the tobacco leaves after drying and conditioning and controlling the humidifier so that the moisture content of the tobacco leaves becomes a target moisture content. The humidity controller is so constructed as to control the humidifier on the basis of a wet-bulb temperature. Saving of heat energy can be attained, and because a cooling chamber is not needed, the apparatus can be made compact and it becomes easier to stabilize a target moisture content.

The system and method provide for a controlled selection handling and proportioning of the tobacco mass, and for conditioning of the tobacco mass before further primary processing. The apparatus provides for conditioning an entire tobacco mass or for selected proportioning of the tobacco mass into smaller predetermined portions prior to conditioning. The system and method allow for blending different types of tobacco masses while utilizing the proportioning apparatus on selected tobacco masses.

摘要： A filter cigarette is provided which comprises a tobacco rod which includes a charge of tobacco wrapped in cigarette paper, an integral, axially aligned wrapped cylindrical filter plug, and tipping paper. The filter plug is divided into first and second segments with the first segment being rotatable with respect to the second segment. Rotation of the first segment with respect to the second segment causes axial movement of the first segment which serves to vary the air dilution value of the cigarette by uncovering a permeable region in the plug wrapping.

摘要： An apparatus for treating a tobacco as it is conveyed through the apparatus includes a heater for heating the treating and conveying gas, a tobacco-gas separator device for separating the treated tobacco from the treating and conveying gas, a duct fluidity interconnecting the heater with the tobacco-gas separator device, a venturi located in the duct, and a tobacco feed device for introducing tobacco to be treated into the throat of the venturi to be entrained by the treating gas stream between the heater device and tobacco-gas separator device. The separated treating gas is returned to the heater device for reuse in treating more tobacco. The apparatus further includes a venturi which maintains a substantially zero internal atmospheric pressure at the tobacco feed device to prevent the escape of treating gas from the apparatus or entry of ambient air into the apparatus.

摘要： A filter cigarette is provided which is adjustable to provide a wide range of air dilution values and which comprises a tobacco rod, a wrapped substantially cylindrical filter plug, and air transmissive tipping paper. The filter plug comprises a first mouth-end segment and a second, axially aligned, abutting rod-end segment which are joined such that the first segment is rotatable about the common axis. The wrapping is substantially air impermeable and has a plurality of first longitudinally extending, substantially air impermeable depressions spaced about the circumference of the first segment which are registrable with corresponding second, longitudinally extending, substantially air impermeable depressions spaced about the circumference of the second segment, such that as the first segment is rotated relative to the second segment, the degree of registry of the first and second depressions varies, thereby admitting varying amounts of air to the filter.
