Abstract: A infusion apparatus configured to infuse reagents into plant matter, the infusion apparatus having: a reagent dispenser having at least one reagent: a vaporizer in fluid communication with the reagent dispenser; a vacuum chamber in fluid communication with the vaporizer; a vacuum pump in fluid communication with the vacuum chamber, and an infuser controller in electrical communication with the reagent dispenser, vaporizer, the vacuum chamber and the vacuum pump; wherein flow of each reagent from the reagent dispenser through the vaporizer and into the vacuum chamber is controlled by the infuser controller. The infusion apparatus may be configured to provide a scalable apparatus for infusion of large quantities of samples, such that sample throughput may be adjusted in accordance with the desired products.

Abstract: A cartridge for an aerosol-generating system is provided, the cartridge containing a nicotine source including a liquid nicotine formulation, the liquid nicotine formulation including glycerine in an amount of at least 10 percent by weight and nicotine, in which a ratio by weight of nicotine to glycerine in the liquid nicotine formulation is between about 3:2 and about 9:1. Abstract: A tobacco smoking mixture including an ammonia-release compound adapted to be formed into a lit-end cigarette is provided. The ammonia-release compound is incorporated in or on tobacco cut filler in an amount effective to reduce the cytotoxicity, and/or selective smoke constituents of cigarette smoke. Exemplary ammonia-release compounds include ammonium acetate, ammonium hydroxide, hexammine cobalt (III) chloride, hexammine cobalt (III) acetate, and combinations thereof. The ammonia-release compounds can release ammonia at temperatures between about 60° C. and about 400° C. Ammonia-release compounds can be combined with additives, such as glycerine, cobalt acetate, copper (II) acetate, zinc acetate, other metal salts or combinations thereof, to further reduce the cytotoxicity of cigarette smoke.

Abstract: Methods of modifying the tobacco-specific nitrosamine content of a tobacco material are described herein. One exemplary method comprises contacting a tobacco material with a composition comprising salt, sugar, enzyme, lactic acid bacteria, yeast, or a combination thereof to reduce the total bacterial content; curing the tobacco material; and fermenting the tobacco material in the presence of one or more microorganisms. The method can provide a fermented tobacco material having a tobacco-specific nitrosamine content that is reduced relative to a fermented tobacco material that has not been subjected to the disclosed method steps. In certain embodiments, the tobacco-specific nitrosamine content of the fermented tobacco material is no more than that of the cured tobacco material. Tobacco-containing products including such treated tobacco materials are also provided.
