The outer shell includes a cap and a rotatable knob to advance the product. The cartridge assembly fits into the outer shell and includes an internal rotatable shaft with a lower portion that couples to the rotatable knob, and an upper screw portion coupled to a threaded piston disposed below the product to be administered, such that when the knob is rotated, the piston moves upwardly, causing the product to be administered through the top portion of the outer shell when the cap is opened. A coupling mechanisms maintain the cartridge assembly within the outer shell until manually released. The coupling mechanism may include one or more retainer clips that extend from the cartridge assembly and engage with corresponding openings in the outer shell.

摘要： Today's suppositories are typically packaged individually for digital administration into the anal canal of a patient. A suppository applicator described herein, which works with individually packaged suppositories, can alternatively be shipped in a prepackaged operational arrangement with a suppository to enable the patient to administer the suppository through use of the applicator in a single operation after opening a hygienic wrapper containing the applicator-suppository combination. A method for manufacturing a suppository includes manufacturing the suppository in the presence of and in contact with an element configured to be used to insert the suppository into a body cavity. The method may include using the element to define a shape of the suppository during the manufacturing. The resulting applicator-suppository combination is more hygienic and easier to handle than the separate applicator and suppository and provides more efficiency from time of opening the packaging to time of commencing administration of the suppository.

Cooperating detachable fasteners releasably connect the components together. A flip top lid has a living hinge connection to the main body component to close its open top. A hollow interior space of the main body has a larger volume than that of the dome. There is sufficient stick product in the interior space so that after the stick product in the dome is depleted the applicator can be exposed to external energy, such as from a conventional microwave oven, to cause the stick product in the interior space to become fluid and flow into and refill the dome with stick product.

When the lip balm cools, it may adhere to the support surface and preferably does not adhere to the mold portion.
