Abstract: A system includes a mandrel contoured to define a tapering tubular shape of a workpiece cured on the mandrel and a demolding tool. The demolding tool is configured to remove the workpiece from the mandrel after the workpiece is cured on the mandrel and cut longitudinally. The demolding tool is configured to remove the workpiece from the mandrel by deforming a first end of the workpiece to at least partially disengage the first end of the workpiece from a first end of the mandrel, and subsequently, deforming a second end of the workpiece to at least partially disengage the second end of the workpiece from a second end of the mandrel. The first end of the workpiece may have a first cross-sectional area that is smaller than a second cross-sectional area of the second end of the workpiece.

Abstract: A third cavity part for forming a filter part of a mesh filter has opening forming pins of the same number as that of openings for forming regular-octagonal openings of the filter part. The opening forming pins are formed at regular intervals along an X-axis direction and a Y-axis direction, and a diameter of an inscribed circle of the regular octagon is equivalent to the dimension between the adjacent opening forming pins along the X-axis direction and along the Y-axis direction. The interval between a first line and a second line adjacent to the first line of the opening forming pins formed at regular intervals along a direction at 45° to the X-axis direction is equivalent to the interval between a third line and a fourth line adjacent to the third line of the opening forming pins formed at regular intervals along a direction at 135° to the X-axis direction.

Abstract: A method of molding an interior part for a vehicle includes determining a 3D graphic sample model. A shape of the sample model has concave portions having curvatures determined through 3D modeling and gradients of an inner surface of each concave portion. A molded sample having the same general shape as the sample model is injection molded. Information related to scratch occurrence positions is acquired from the molded sample. Information of curvatures and gradients of the concave portions of the sample model are acquired and collected at positions on the sample model corresponding to the scratch occurrence positions. A limit angle and limit angle are determined by using the collected information and preset curvatures for the concave portion of a design of the interior part. The interior part having the concave portion with a shape based on the determined draft angle and the preset curvatures can then be injection molded.

Abstract: Molded rubber objects may be molded and de-molded by defining both a desired final form for the molded rubber object and a tab extending from the final form of the molded rubber object using a cavity in a mold. Rubber pellets may be dispensed in predetermined amounts at desired location(s) within the cavity to provide the rubber needed to form the molded rubber object. Heat and pressure may be applied to the mold to cause the rubber pellets to fill the cavity defining both the desired final form of the molded rubber object and the tab. After the heat and pressure has been applied, a gripping device may grasp the tab and move the tab in a direction and with sufficient force to peel the rubber object from the mold cavity. If desired, the tab may be removed from the molded rubber object.

Abstract: A method and system for enhanced demolding of injection molded optical devices are disclosed. In one embodiment the system includes a metal moldplate without a coat of release layer and a curing device that generates high intensity pulses of UV light. The method includes: providing a moldplate made of a predetermined moldplate material; directly injecting optical material into cavities of a moldplate without a release layer; rapidly curing the injected optical material with high intensity pulses of UV light such that a predetermined optical device is formed; and separating the thus formed optical device from the cavities of the moldplate due to a differential thermal expansion between the optical device material and the moldplate material.
