摘要: A system and method for effectively desalinating a feed stream is provided. In one embodiment, a feed stream is desalinated by a Brine Forward (BF) desalination system comprising an enabling de-scaling step combined with a plurality of trains arranged in series and alternated in pairs of opposing feed evaporation modes, wherein each pair comprises a leading backward fed multi-effect train and a following forward fed multi-effect train. This system is structured on the grounds of simplicity and homogeneity, without using scale inhibitors and restricting top brine temperature. This system is a close approximation of efficient regenerative heating and brine cascading; the energy extracted to heat the feed is only slightly hotter than the feed it is heating without complex feed heating setups; and the brine extracted after evaporating vapor in the train is used to evaporate vapor in the next train, yet reject brine is readily reusable in other applications.

摘要: Systems and processes for treating, reducing and/or disposing of leachate created by a landfill system by aerating, spraying and/or stripping leachate in a controlled environment to promote evaporation of a water component of the leachate, to strip a portion of ammonia from the leachate and/or to promote biological decomposition of the leachate. The reduced or concentrated leachate produced by the system or process, whether liquid, solid or slurry, can be disposed of as allowed or desired at a cost benefitted by the reduced volume and/or treated condition of the leachate.

摘要: Apparatus for removing suspended impurities from a liquid (e.g., wastewater), methods of use, and systems including such apparatus. In an embodiment, an apparatus may include a vessel defining a chamber for receiving gas induced liquid influent through an inlet, the influent including suspended impurities. A riser tube may be provided within the vessel, in fluid communication with the inlet so that liquid influent introduced into the vessel through the inlet is introduced into the riser tube. One or more coalescing members may be disposed within the riser tube. The coalescing members may be sufficiently small to be easily removable by hand, without requiring a crane. The coalescing members may be freely disposed within the riser tube, rotatable within the flow of the liquid influent, aiding the coalescing members in exhibiting some degree of “self-cleaning”, so as to be less prone to fouling and clogging.

摘要: Illustrative embodiments employ catholyte scrubbers to provide higher concentrations of ozone in ozonated water than was possible in prior art systems and methods. Moreover, some embodiments employ scrubbers to increase the efficiency of production of ozonated water by producing such higher concentrations of ozone in ozonated water using the same amount, or less, power than prior art systems and methods. Some embodiments employ scrubbers to enable production of water with higher concentrations of ozone, and/or ozonated water in which the concentration of ozone decays more slowly, as compared to prior art methods.

摘要: Methods and systems for processing production fluid include embodiments for removal of injected chemicals from the production fluid. An embodiment of a method includes receiving production fluid from a borehole in an earth formation, the production fluid including surfactants injected into the earth formation to stimulate production of hydrocarbons therefrom. The method also includes processing the production fluid to separate the production fluid into at least an oil phase and produced water, introducing a treatment fluid from a treatment fluid source into at least one of the production fluid and the produced water, and removing the surfactants from at least the produced water. The treatment fluid includes a concentration of multivalent cations, the multivalent cations configured to reduce water solubility of the surfactants.

摘要: The Fischer-Tropsch (FT) process creates significant amounts of water. This FT produced water contains significant amounts of organic impurities. The invention provides methods of treating FT produced water. Surprisingly, it was discovered that the FT produced water could be successfully treated in a membrane bioreactor (MBR) according to relatively simple and more efficient steps; for example, by adjusting the pH of the water in the range of 4.2 to 5.8 or treating the FT produced water in a stripper where the distillate product stream and a reflux stream returning to the stripper have the same composition. In a related aspect, water compositions are described.

摘要: An apparatus for detecting cation conductivity of sample water is provided. The apparatus includes a decarbonation device which receives ambient air and removes CO2 components from the ambient air to produce decarbonated ambient air. The apparatus also includes a desorption device which receives the decarbonated ambient air and sample water that includes CO2 gas. The apparatus also includes one or more control processors which cause the decarbonated ambient air to be provided to the sample water in the desorption chamber where a portion of the CO2 gas is removed from the sample water when the decarbonated air passes through the sample water. The desorption chamber utilizes gravity to implement counterflow of the sample water and the decarbonated air to efficiently produce degassed sample water. The degassed water is provided to a conductivity sensor for evaluating the corroding anionic impurities of the water.
