摘要： A digital downcount timer for timing warning periods occuring before the ''''START'''' of an event, such as a sailboat race, where the warning period is commenced by a first warning signal such as a gun or flag and where there may be a second warning signal to mark a fixed intermediate instant in the warning period, the timer including a count-down clock and a programmed controller having a first step condition in which the clock shows all zeros at the display, and having a second-step condition manually initiated wherein the clock is preset to display an initial negative reading and is enabled to count down toward zero, one of these step conditions being a stable at ''''REST'''' condition, and the controller having a third step condition which can be optionally selected by manual action to correct the count to display a preset intermediate corrective negative reading from which the clock continues downcounting. When the display reads all zeros, the controller is automatically returned to the ''''REST'''' condition.

摘要： Disclosed is a solid state electronic wristwatch with no moving parts. The watch electronics are hermetically sealed in the watch case to be free of dust and moisture and the sealed components are resiliently mounted for improved shock resistance. Two setting switches and a demand switch within the casing are operated from outside the watch by permanent magnets, the demand magnet operating with a demand pushbutton. The setting magnet may be stored in the watch bracelet.

摘要： In an improved digital display device relying on the phenomenon of dispersion of incident light by nematic crystals across which an electric field is imposed, an arrangement of transparent conductive segments in groups on opposing parallel plates makes it possible to reduce the number of leads necessary for displaying any digit from zero to nine from the conventional eight leads to six leads. The impressed voltage necessary for causing the nematic liquid crystals to disperse light is applied in pulses to different segments in each group in succession, the pulses being supplied at a sufficiently high frequency so that each pulsed segment appears to be continuously actuated.
