Abstract:
A liquid crystal display that is subject to pixel-high defects due to manufacturing anomalies is provided with programmable repair means for each pixel electrode. In one embodiment, a transistor-array substrate is provided with plural gate lines that are separated from each other by a first interval, plural data lines that are insulated from the gate lines while crossing the gate lines, and separated from each other by a second interval larger than the first interval, thereby defining plural pixel areas. Each pixel area has a corresponding pixel unit comprising a switching device, pixel electrode, and repair electrode. The repair electrode branches from a neighboring gate line and extends such that the repair electrode is in overlapping spaced-apart relation with the pixel electrode and selectively connectable to the pixel electrode. Accordingly, a pixel where a high pixel defect occurs can be repaired by selective connection with the repair electrode, thereby improving display quality of the liquid crystal display.

A steam/water mixed dishwasher using steam and water together, and, more particularly, a dishwasher and dishwashing method of achieving improvement in washing performance and efficiency via direct steam injection to dishes. The dishwasher includes a body containing a dishwashing tub, at least one dish basket disposed in the dishwashing tub and adapted to receive dishes therein, a steam generator to generate steam by heating wash water, and steam injection nozzles to inject the steam generated from the steam generator. The steam injection nozzles are disposed at the same height as a lower surface of the dish basket. The dishwashing method includes injecting steam from a number of the plurality of steam injection nozzles by opening a number of the plurality of control valves, to thereby maintain an injection pressure of the steam generated from the steam generator.

Abstract:
A gamma voltage generator for a liquid crystal display (LCD) capable of removing residual images by compensating a gamma voltage is presented. The gamma voltage generation apparatus adjusts the common voltage by the kickback voltage for the intermediate gray level, and tunes the gamma voltages other than the intermediate gray level gamma voltage. The adjustment of the gamma voltages other than the intermediate gray level gamma voltage is achieved in such a manner that the difference between the intermediate gray level kickback voltage and the kickback voltage at one of the gray levels other than the intermediate gray level is equal to half of the difference between the sum of the two inverted gamma voltages representing the intermediate gray level gamma voltages and the sum of the two inverted gamma voltages corresponding to the selected gray level.

A hard disk drive that includes a voice coil motor and a micro-actuator. The disk drive includes a servo with a voice coil motor loop, a micro-actuator loop and an overall loop. The servo is calibrated by first calibrating the voice coil motor loop, then calibrating the micro-actuator loop and finally calibrating the overall loop.
Abstract:
A terminal location estimation method in a wireless communication system in which an access point (AP) provides an access service to a plurality of terminals includes defining a plurality of beam spaces around the AP through space multiplexing; scheduling the beam spaces according to a predetermined pattern; simultaneously forming a beam in at least one beam space; and detecting the existence and location of a terminal according to whether a response message in response to the formed beam is received. Accordingly, an AP forms beams in a predetermined scheduling pattern, and each of the terminals detecting the beams registers its location by informing the AP that each of the terminals exists in a relevant beam area, and thus, a location of each of the terminals can be estimated without using a complex DOA algorithm.
Abstract:
An Orthogonal Spatial Multiplexing (OSM) apparatus and method in a closed-loop Multiple Input Multiple Output-Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (MIMO-OFDM) system are provided. In the OSM method, a basic signal model is set and transmission symbols are encoded. A real-valued system model corresponding to the basic signal model is obtained. To achieve orthogonality, rotations angles are calculated and are applied to the encoded transmission symbols.
