Abstract:
An identification labeling system comprising a faceplate with a recess and a label cover that may be retained within the recess. The label cover may have compartments for retaining identification labels. The label cover has latching legs and the recess has a complementary retention ledge. A lift slot may be provided to facilitate removal of the label cover. The recess may contain holes to accommodate individual molded identification icons. The recess may include tapered corners to accommodate strip labels of different widths and lengths, such labels being positioned by the tapered corners of the recess and the label cover. The recess includes end configurations that prevent a label from passing through the surface of the faceplate. The label cover has a thickness so as to be flush with the faceplate. The label may be the same color as the faceplate.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a serial-to-ethernet modular converter jack and a method of fabricating of the same. The serial-to-ethernet converter electronic components, including the control software stored in on-board memory, are miniaturized and housed entirely in an RJ-45 jack. The present invention is constructed of a shielded housing that defines an open front portion for a connector port. The housing of the present invention also includes a segregated interior chamber, which encases all of the electrical components necessary to complete a serial-to-ethernet conversion of data. Lead pins electrically connected to the circuitry within the interior chamber, protrude from the based of the connector jack providing for a means to mate the jack to a circuit board. First, second and third circuit boards collectively incorporate the serial-to-ethernet circuitry components. Both the first circuit board incorporating magnetic circuitry and the second circuit board incorporating control circuitry are positioned in generally horizontal parallel relation within the interior chamber. The second circuit board which defines opposed sides includes electronic components disposed upon the upper and lower of both sides of said second circuit board. The third circuit board, incorporating connections to the LEDs, is positioned generally perpendicular in relation to the first and second circuit boards and is structurally connected to said first and second circuit boards, additionally providing an electrical connection between the first and second boards. Alternative embodiments of the invention are disclosed and include various arrangement of the serial-to-ethernet circuitry within the interior chamber of the housing.
Abstract:
A faceplate assembly for mounting to various wall, floor or ceiling mounted electrical boxes, such as a telecommunications box, that is easily assembled and disassembled, and in which the wiring device receiving modules are readily interchangeable. The faceplate assembly includes a plate for covering the box, holes in the plate aligned with holes in the box for securing the plate to the box, at least one aperture in the plate, at least two modules adapted to fit in the at least one plate aperture, and either a blank face on the module or at least one opening in the module for accessing a wiring device receptacle in the box with a wiring device. Fasteners received in the plate openings secure the plate to the box. A module is inserted in the at least one plate aperture from the front side of the plate, allowing a module to be removed and replaced with another module without having to remove the plate from the box. A module may have a blank front face, or it may have one or more openings for accessing the wiring device receptacle in the box. The openings may be oriented in a first direction having a longer horizontal side, or oriented in a second direction with a longer vertical side, as required by the wiring device receptacles housed in the box. The module may also have a sloped front face that facilitates accessing the wiring device. The quickly and easily removable and installable modules provide a versatile faceplate assembly that may be used on a wide variety of receptacle configurations.
Abstract:
A multi-purpose modular connector includes a female housing having an open end and at least two interior surfaces. A first contact terminal configuration is positioned along one of the two interior surfaces and a second contact configuration is positioned along another of the interior surfaces. A male plug having a first plurality of wires and a second plurality of wires is configured to be inserted in the open end of the female housing. When the male plug is inserted into the female housing, at least one first contact terminal contacts a corresponding one of the first plurality of wires and at least one second contact terminal contacts a corresponding one of the second plurality of wires.
Abstract:
A telecommunications patch panel is provided having a plurality of connector modules rotatably mounted to a frame member. Each connector module has a front face and an opposite facing rear face, and each front face includes a plurality of connector jacks. Each rear face includes a plurality of wire termination blocks. The wire termination blocks are electrically connected to the connector jacks. Each connector module is rotatable about a rotation axis relative to the frame member. A lock selectively locks each connector module to the frame member as desired. The connector jacks and the connector modules are arranged in linear arrays perpendicular to the axis of rotation.
Abstract:
An improved method and apparatus for identifying individual wires that are connected between a network patch panel and a remote wall jacks is provided. A permanent LED lamp is installed adjacent to each jack in a computer network patch panel that is electrically connected to two terminals of each of the patch jacks. A handset component that produces direct current voltage is plugged into a remote wall jack to be tested, an electrical circuit is completed using the permanent network cabling thereby energizing the LED indicator lamp at the patch panel, providing positive visual confirmation of the patch panel location that corresponds to the wall jack location. The method of the present invention provides for one worker to remain at the patch panel location, as a second worker, using the handset component of the present invention, plugs the device into a wall plug in a remote location, which lights the corresponding LED on the patch panel. The worker at the patch panel communicates the circuit that was illuminated to the worker at the remote location. Thus, the correct wire for that location on the patch panel is instantly identified, and can be labeled by the remote worker.
Abstract:
A power source connector holder for an extractable hard drive box includes a plastic block and sliding slots. A groove is formed on the top surface of the plastic block, and an elastic leaf is disposed in the groove. The elastic leaf has one end fixed to an inner wall of the groove, and has a bump at the other end. The power source connector holder is combined to a connector supporting element with a sliding track and two positioning recesses. The power source connector holder is slidable along the sliding track from a first position of the bump engaged with one positioning recess to a second position engaged with the other positioning recess so as to be adjustable with respect to a position of the power source connector of different hard drives.
