The present invention relates to space-time or space-frequency coding in cellular systems. The same data is transmitted from different antennas with different coverage areas, corresponding to different cells. The different data streams have different parts of the space-time block codes applied. A mobile terminal can combine the different parts of the space-time block codes in different received signals. This provides better performance than the known techniques for single frequency networks. The invention can also be applied to antennas with different coverage areas from the same site, and different beams formed with antenna arrays.

One of first and second beams (28) of corresponding first and second light (13) are projected into an atmosphere (20) and at least one physical property of the atmosphere (20) is detected from the interference pattern (47) generated from the resulting scattered light (30). The first and second beams (20) are selected responsive to either a detected signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) or a detected aerosol-to-molecular ratio (AMR). The wavelength (740) of the first light (13) provides for either molecular or aerosol scattering, whereas the wavelength (738) of the second light (13) provides for primarily only aerosol scattering. In accordance with a second aspect, scattered light (30) from one or more beams (28) of substantially monochromatic light (13) projected into the atmosphere (20) and received from a plurality of interaction regions (17) or measurement volumes (52) provides for determining wind power (P*) within a region of the atmosphere (20).

Methods and apparatus for the removal of exhaust gases are provided herein. In some embodiments, an exhaust apparatus may include a housing defining an inner volume; an inlet and an outlet formed in the housing to facilitate flow of an exhaust gas through the inner volume, wherein the inlet is configured to be coupled to a process chamber to receive an exhaust therefrom; and an ultraviolet light source to provide ultraviolet energy to the inner volume. The ultraviolet light source may provide sufficient energy to at least partially decompose the exhaust gases. In some embodiments, the ultraviolet light source may provide ultraviolet energy until the exhaust gas has cooled below a critical temperature.

A turbine stage includes a row of airfoils joined to corresponding platforms to define flow passages therebetween. Each airfoil includes opposite pressure and suction sides and extends in chord between opposite leading and trailing edges. At least some of the platforms have a scalloped flow surface including a bulge adjoining the pressure side and a bowl adjoining the suction side, aft of the leading edge, of the respective airfoils. The bulge is configured having a maximum height located within its respective flow passage, and wherein the bulge decreases in height in a forward and aft direction and decreases in height laterally toward the pressure side of the airfoil and toward the bowl adjoining the suction side of a next adjacent airfoil.

A flexible molded grip for an implement handle having a pattern on the surface of portions raised above adjacent areas, with the surfaces of the raised portions textured. The raised textured portions may extend in the range of about 0.5 mm to 2 mm above the intermediate smooth portions. The area of each of the raised portions may be in the range of about 100-200 percent (%) of the area of the intermediate spaces. The pattern of raised portions may include patterns such as polygonal, circular, oval and elliptical patterns. The method includes forming raised portions in a mold and forming textured surfaces on the raised portions after removal from the mold.

A flexible golf club grip having a brightly colored underlist of elastomeric material of a certain durometer and an outer layer of less durometer. The outer layer may have voids to expose portions of the underlist or the underlist may have portions thereof extend into the voids during molding. In another version, a brightly colored cover layer is molded over the underlist and a spiral wrapped strip of softer elastomer is molded thereover with the edges of the strip spaced to expose the original strip of the cover layer.

A changeable grip 12 for a shock imparting implement has a gripping sleeve 18 positioned on a handle sleeve 15 attached to a handle 14. A lower end of gripping sleeve 18 abuts a ledge 28 integrally formed in the handle sleeve 15. A threaded cap 20 compresses the gripping sleeve 18 against the ledge 28 to secure the grip 12 to the handle sleeve 15. Optional splines 40 on an outer surface of the handle sleeve 15 meshing with channels 42 in the gripping sleeve 18 function to prevent slippage or rotation during use.

A plastic extruded member is provided which will induce cracks in concrete and provide drainage for moisture entering the cracks. The member includes a base which sets upon the subgrade surface, with a pair of legs extending upwardly from the base. Arms extend laterally outwardly from each leg. As extruded, the legs are adjacent one another, and then spread apart as the concrete cures and shrinks, thereby inducing a substantially vertical crack in the concrete above the legs. The member includes a drain channel at the lower end of the legs. The gap between the legs which is created by the shrinking cured concrete provides a path from the crack to the drain channel for draining water entering the crack.
