Abstract: An anti-locking apparatus is proposed which is intended for a hydraulic brake system having a foot-actuated brake control valve and is intended for use in passenger vehicles. The brake control valve permits pressure medium to flow from a pressure source to the primary side of a hydraulic main cylinder, which is associated with a central switching valve embodied as a 3/2-way valve and at least one 2/2-way valve for the purpose of controlling the anti-locking function. The secondary side of the main cylinder, or in two-brake circuits, the main cylinders, is associated with a check valve device by way of which the secondary side can be relieved when the check valve device is opened after the switchover of the central switching valve. In this manner, the functioning of the anti-locking apparatus is improved because it is possible to perform the pressure reduction down to the level of atmospheric pressure. This is important at low road adhesion values.

Abstract: A hydraulic brake force amplifier for multiple-circuit brake systems provided with a control valve which is actuated by the brake pedal via a travel-limiting spring. Disposed parallel to the control valve is a main cylinder, which is actuatable by the brake pedal either in accordance with pressure or when there is a failure of the pressure supply. In order that the travel path of the pedal will not be unnecessarily long when the pressure supply is intact, an arresting piston member is used, which limits the stroke of the control valve. The arresting piston member is combined with means which, upon failure of the pressure supply, permit its use as a further main cylinder piston. In this manner, a compact and lightweight structure of the brake force amplifier is possible. The brake force amplifier is preferably used in passenger vehicles.

Abstract: The invention relates to a hydraulic brake booster for a vehicle brake apparatus which is provided with a pressurizing apparatus which has a pump and a reservoir (accumulator). When the reservoir pressure fails, a switchover piston which is subject to the reservoir pressure can disengage a stop for the push rod of the control valve.The push rod is supported on the stop when the pressure supply to the reservoir is intact and after the control valve switches over in the direction of brake activation.In this manner, a stop for the brake pedal, which activates the push rod is formed which is subject solely to the resiliency of a travel-limiting spring. The stop operates when reservoir pressure is available to effect a longer pedal stroke. When the reservoir pressure fails, it is automatically disengaged.

Abstract: A testing apparatus for an anti-lock control system for vehicle brakes for testing the correct functioning of the control system. In one embodiment, the apparatus establishes a predetermined speed and compares this predetermined speed to the speed sensed by the sensing portion of the control system. When the predetermined speed is exceeded by the moving vehicle a testing apparatus is triggered which initiates a test procedure for the control system. The apparatus includes a switching device to insure that a test procedure is initiated only after the vehicle ignition switch is actuated. In another embodiment, the apparatus employs a temperature sensor and/or the control system output for initiating a test procedure, but not during a deceleration of the vehicle. In a further variant, two threshold levels are established, each of which must be encountered before the test procedure is initiated.

Abstract: An antilocking control system for vehicles in which control signals for controlling a pressure regulating unit associated with two wheels or two groups of wheels are produced in an evaluating circuit from the signals of at least one sensor associated with these wheels or groups of wheels and in which the pressure is at times controlled based on the rotational behavior of the wheel first tending to lock (select-low) and at times based on the rotational behavior of the wheel being the last to show a tendency to lock (select-high). During the select-low mode of operation the duration T.sub.1 of the pressure buildup phase following a pressure reduction phase is measured until there again occurs a tendency to lock at at least one wheel and then the mode of operation is switched to the select-high mode. During the select-high mode of operation the duration T.sub.2 of the pressure increase period is measured and the result is continuously compared with the measured duration (T.sub.1) of the pressure buildup phase during select-low operation. When the measured duration T.sub.2 reaches a given relationship to the duration T.sub.1, the select-high mode of operation is continued for a given duration T.sub.3 after which the mode of operation is switched back to the select-low mode. A switching arrangement is provided which responds if, during the select-high mode of operation, the second wheel (or group of wheels) also shows a tendency to lock before a given time duration T.sub.2 has been reached, to effect switching back to the select-low mode of operation.
