Abstract:
Accommodating a processor to process a number of different data formats includes loading a data word in a first format from a first storage device; reordering, before it reaches the arithmetic unit, the first format of the data word to a second format compatible with the native order of the arithmetic unit; and vector processing the data word in the arithmetic unit.
Abstract:
A dual purpose current mode logic (“CML”) latch circuit is provided which includes a CML latch operable to receive at least a pair of differential input data signals and at least one clock signal. The CML latch is operable to generate at least one output signal in accordance with the states of the pair of input differential data signals. A mode control device is operable to receive a mode control signal to operate the CML latch as a buffer or as a latch. In such way, when the mode control signal is inactive, the CML latch generates and latches the output signal at a timing determined by the at least one clock signal, and when the mode control signal is active the CML latch generates the output signal such that the output signal changes whenever the states of the pair of differential input data signals change.
Abstract:
A monitoring system including a computer system; a data converter connected to the computer system through a cable; one or more panels each connected to the data converter through one or more data lines; the one or more panels obtaining data by measuring a measurable component of a near or remote system. The computer system monitors the one or more panels to determine when an alarm condition exists and to provide data from the one or more panels.
Abstract:
Active optical alignment of plastic chip-scale-package (450) laser and photo detecting diode devices (420) is provided by use of an active probe (120) to make alignment structures (300), such as précising holes, that are used to align the optical device (420) into a transmit/receive module. An optical connector (140), such as an optical fiber, transmits light to, or receives light from, the optical device (420). Using an electrical contact (115, 120), laser diode devices are lighted or photo detecting diode devices are electrically interfaced. The optical connector (140) steps to, locates and contacts each optical device on a fabricated frame of multiple devices. The optical connector (140) is manipulated to an optimal coupling position where the best signal, either optical or electrical, is obtained. An optimal position for making the précising holes, e.g., using a machining laser, is determined as an offset from the optimal position of the optical connector.
Abstract:
A portable electronic data storage/processing device, e.g., smart card maintains an account including benefit packages. Each benefit package includes multiple items with associated quantity information. A smart card includes an account benefits interface and a retailer interface, each interface using different security measures. New benefit packages are added to the smart card through the account benefit interface by a benefit provider. Benefits debit request lists including multiple items and associated quantities are submitted to the smart card through the retailer interface. The smart card is the trusted member and checks if all requested items in quantities requested can be debited. If all requests can be fulfilled, the smart card executes the debiting from the currently valid benefit package and returns a transaction success indication to the retailer. If any of the requests of the list cannot be met, the entire request list is rejected and no debiting occurs. Benefit quantity addition is not possible through the retailer interface. Transactions are performed as block transactions.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for a chemical vapor deposition (CVD) chamber provides uniform heat distribution, uniform distribution of process chemicals in the CVD chamber, and minimization of by-product and condensate residue in the chamber. The improvements include a processing chamber comprising a chamber body, a base, and a chamber lid defining a processing region, a substrate support disposed in the processing region, a gas delivery system mounted on a chamber lid, the gas delivery system comprising an adapter ring and two blocker plates that define a gas mixing region, and a face plate fastened to the adapter ring, an exhaust system mounted at the base, a heating element positioned to heat the adapter ring; and a heating element positioned to heat a portion of the exhaust system.
Abstract:
Transaction-based hardware abstraction involves a process of using heuristic techniques to identify finite-state machines (FSMs) in a hardware design that process transactions, from which transaction boundaries can be identified. Signals can be abstracted as a result of the transaction-based abstraction. Signals can be classified based on the abstracted design as either transient, temporary, or persistent. Transient signals can be identified during the abstraction process as the transaction-processing FSMs that define the transaction boundaries. In the unabstracted design, all combinational signals are temporary since they are set and used in the same time step and all transactions are at least one time step in length. State-holding signals may also be classified as temporary if, after abstraction, they become combinational in the abstracted design. All signals that remain as state-holding signals after abstraction are persistent. Transaction-based abstraction allows a comprehensive test plan to be automatically generated for a device. A test plan comprises a set of conditions called coverage points that are derived based on a signal classification created using transaction-based analysis to identify the architecturally-visible state of the design.
Abstract:
A kettle for heating water or other liquid has a lid and lid actuator to move the lid between open and closed positions. The lid actuator may be connected to the container and movable relative to the opening about a pivot that is below a pivot about which the lid may move between the closed and open positions. The lid actuator may also lock the lid in position, such as in the open or closed position. The lid and lid actuator may also be arranged for movement independent of each other.
