Abstract: A device which moves a die between a retracted position, thereby releasing the die from the device, and an advanced position, thereby fixing the die to the device. The device includes an inner body comprising an inner body wall, and an inner body set of inclined faces. A body comprises a longitudinal groove. The longitudinal groove comprises an inner wall which contacts the inner body wall. An intermediate body comprises a first longitudinal side comprising a longitudinal side set of inclined faces, and a second longitudinal side arranged opposite thereto. The first longitudinal side cooperates with the inner wall. The second longitudinal side cooperates with a first side of the die. The longitudinal side set of inclined faces cooperates with the inner body set of inclined faces. A relative movement between the intermediate body and the inner body moves the die between the retracted position and the advanced position.

Abstract: A cleaning apparatus for cleaning a drill string. The cleaning apparatus includes a base, an arm, a fluid flow conduit, and a motor. The base supports the arm on a drill floor of a drilling rig. The arm has a first end which is mounted on the base, a second end at which a spray nozzle is arranged, and at least one articulated joint via which the arm, or a portion of the arm, can pivot relative to the base. The fluid flow conduit is connected to the spray nozzle so that a pressurized fluid entering the fluid flow conduit can spray out of the spray nozzle. The motor pivots the arm about the at least one articulated joint so as to alter an orientation of the spray nozzle relative to the base.

Abstract: An apparatus for mounting a buoyancy aid on an elongate line. The buoyancy aid includes a separable first and second portion which enable the buoyancy aid to be mounted on the elongate line. The apparatus includes a movable frame, a support cradle and an opening arrangement mounted on the frame, and a drive system. The first and second portions are placeable on the support cradle. The opening arrangement includes a gripper which grips whichever of the first or second portion placed on the support cradle is uppermost. The drive system moves the frame between a loading position where the buoyancy aid is placeable on the support cradle and an installation position, and to move the opening arrangement and/or the support cradle relative to the frame so that, when the gripper grips the uppermost first portion or second portion on the support cradle, the first portion separates from the second portion.

Abstract: A method for replacing a length of a wire/cable in a hoisting system. The wire/cable extends from a storage drum to a winch. The method includes removing at least one lock which prevents a deadline anchor arranged between the storage drum and the winch from rotating, reeling onto the storage drum a first length of the wire/cable with a simultaneous coordinated operation of the deadline anchor and the storage drum, the simultaneous coordinated operation being controlled so that the wire/cable is in a continuous tension between the deadline anchor and the storage drum, securing the wire/cable to an attachment point, cutting a section of the wire/cable between the attachment point and the winch and removing the cut section of the wire/cable, reattaching the wire/cable remaining to the winch, reeling out a second length of the wire/cable from the storage drum, and securing the wire/cable to the deadline anchor.
