Abstract: For a rolled metal strip, in particular a steel strip; a drive roller unit deflects the metal strip from a first transportation direction to a second transportation direction, and the strip is then fed to a coiler. The metal strip is coiled in the coiler to form a coil having a coil diameter. Plastic deformation of an end portion of the metal strip is caused such that the end portion in its uninfluenced state is curved at a curvature radius. The plastic deformation of the end portion (8) is at least partially caused by an asymmetric impingement with a cooling medium (21) on the sides of the end portion (8). The impingement of the end portion (8) with the cooling medium (21) is performed across a length of the end portion (8) that is longer than half the outermost coiling of the coil (6) but smaller than the outermost coiling of the coil (6).

Abstract: The invention relates to a method for reducing metal oxides to metallized material by means of contact with reduction gas, wherein an accumulated top gas is dry dedusted and reformed in a raw gas mixture together with gaseous hydrocarbons. The water vapor content of the dry dedusted top gas designated for the preparation of the raw gas mixture is adjusted in a saturator in the countercurrent by means of saturation water, wherein the temperature of the saturation water is adjusted, by mixing cold water with a hot water having a higher temperature than the cold water, in order to produce the saturation water at a target value. The invention further relates to a device for carrying out such a method, having corresponding conduits.

Abstract: A cooling device (7) for cooling a roll (5) of a roll stand (1). The cooling device (7) includes a chilled beam (13) for receiving and discharging a coolant. Abstract: Mill rolls capable of rolling long kilometers used for ESP production line and a method for rolling long kilometers using the mill rolls. The mill rolls include rolls (3, 4), a bearing box (2) and a roll shifting hydraulic cylinder (1), wherein the middle portion of the surface of the roll sinks inwards, one end of the rolls is frustum-shaped, smaller and smaller outwards, so that the roll surface forms a compensation ramp, and the other end of the rolls is cylindrical. The upper roll (3) and the lower roll (4) have the same roll profile and are positioned in the opposite direction. The mill rolls are characterized by reduced runaway of the rolled product and a longer service life.

Abstract: A method for operating a combined casting/rolling installation: A casting machine (4) of the combined installation (2) produces a cast product (40) and a rolling mill (6, 8) of the installation (2) produces a rolled product (42a, 42b) from the cast product (40). The installation (2) has a control device (12) with a measuring unit (14) and a controller (16). The measuring unit (14) detects a rolled-product property, generates a measurement signal dependent on that property and transmits the measurement signal to the controller (16), and the controller (16) uses the measurement signal to generate a control signal for the casting machine (4) based on a control algorithm and transmits the control signal to the casting machine (4) which uses the control signal to set a casting parameter. The detected rolled-product property is a temperature profile of the rolled product (42a, 42b) in the width direction thereof and the casting parameter that is set by the casting machine (4) using the control signal is a cooling parameter of the casting machine (4).

Abstract: A metallurgical vessel (2) having an outer surface (2a) and an identification tag (1, 1′, 1″) on the outer surface (2a). The tag has a carrier matrix (11) formed of an electrically and thermally insulating material. At least two passive transponders (3, 3a, 3b) are embedded in the carrier matrix (11). Within a metallurgical plant, a reading station (4) for tracking the path of the metallurgical vessel (2) is arranged at a tracking position. An antenna (5) of the reading station (4) initiates activation of the passive transponders (3, 3a, 3b), provided that the metallurgical vessel (2) is in a sensing range of the reading station (4). A reading unit (6) of the reading station (4) reads out the activated passive transponders (3, 3a, 3b) and transmits the result to an evaluating unit (7) of the reading station (4). The evaluating unit (7) determines which and/or how many of the passive transponders (3, 3a, 3b) were actually activated. The evaluating unit (7) thereafter associates a wear state with all the passive transponders (3, 3a, 3b) of the metallurgical vessel (2) as a whole.
