Disclosed is a downlink signal configuring method and device, and synchronization and cell search method and device using the same in a mobile communication system. A downlink frame has plural symbols into which pilot subcarriers are distributively arranged with respect to time and frequency axes. Initial symbol synchronization and initial frequency synchronization are estimated by using a position at which autocorrelation of a cyclic prefix of a downlink signal and a valid symbol of the downlink is maximized, and cell search and integer-times frequency synchronization are estimated by using pilot subcarriers included in the estimated symbol. Fine symbol synchronization, fine frequency synchronization, and downlink frame synchronization is estimated by using an estimated cell search result. Downlink frequency and time tracking is performed, cell tracking is performed by using a position set of pilot subcarriers inserted into the downlink frame, fine symbol synchronization tracking and fine frequency synchronization tracking are repeated by using the pilot subcarriers to perform the frequency and time tracking of the downlink frame.

The present invention relates to a transmitting apparatus of a wireless communication system, and a method thereof. The transmitting apparatus monitors receiving of response data for data that has been transmitted to a receiving end, and sets a first parameter for counting successful receipts according to receiving on the response data. The transmitting apparatus demodulates the response data and extracts the number of demodulated data that satisfies a first set value. Subsequently, it is determined whether the first parameter satisfies a second set value and the number of demodulated data satisfies a predetermined ratio of a referential amount of packets. According to the present invention, an efficient transmission mode for a channel state can be provided with reference to an extracted number of soft-decision data from response data received at a receiving end. In addition, a transmission mode can be determined by using only response data according to the present invention.

The present invention relates to an orthogonal frequency division multiplexing wireless local area network (LAN) transmitting/receiving system for providing expanded service coverage, and a method thereof. According to the present invention, first OFDM modulation is performed for an even-numbered time, and second OFDM modulation is performed by changing subcarrier allocation positions of first OFDM modulated symbols for an odd-numbered time. In addition, a transmitting frame including a plurality of signal fields according to the first and second OFDM modulation is transmitted. The receiving system determines a format configuration of the received frame to determine whether a signal field is repeatedly generated in the frame. When it is determined that the signal field is not repeatedly generated, corresponding demodulation is performed. When it is determined that the signal field is repeatedly performed, the signal field is demodulated by using first bit allocation information and is demodulated by using second bit allocation information having a 1/2 value of the first bit allocation information. A data field is demodulated according to the demodulated signal field.

The inventive space code block coding and spreading apparatus for transmission diversity in a CDMA communication system, comprises an encoder for generating a predetermined number of different transmission data with respect to a plurality of modulation symbols inputted during one modulation symbol interval, an orthogonal code generator for producing orthogonal codes, a spreader for spreading each of the transmission data generated from the encoder using the orthogonal codes generated from the orthogonal code generator, and a combining unit for combining the transmission data spread at the spreader to provide combined data for each transmission antenna path so that a transmission diversity is made within one modulation symbol interval.

Disclosed are a transmitting and receiving apparatus and method in an adaptive array antenna system capable of real-time calibration. Transfer functions in the transmitting and receiving apparatus are estimated by injecting a calibration signal to each of transmit and receive channels and analyzing the signals that has passed through the transmit and receive channels. An RF CW sinusoidal signal of a single frequency can be used as the calibration signal to simplify a process of signal processing in a baseband. In addition, in the calibration of the receiving apparatus, gains of all receive channels are controlled using an identical signal. Thus, a relative transfer function characteristic of the receive channels is constant irrespective of the gains of the receivers.
