Abstract:
When probe biomolecules are immobilized on a substrate surface, a surfactant (phase transfer catalyst) is added for reaction, whereby immobilization efficiency of the probe biomolecules and coating uniformity thereof are improved. Consequently, it is possible to dramatically improve quantitativity and reproducibility of the biosensor element.
Abstract:
Volatile components are obtained by steam extraction of tasty materials. Coffee beans following roasting or tea leaves following tea manufacturing are used as tasty materials. Steam extraction includes of processing in which steam is contacted with a tasty material followed by recovery of the steam after that contact. Saturated water vapor or super heated steam is used for the steam, while super heated steam is used preferably. The coffee beans are preferably those that have been obtained by roasting raw coffee beans using super heated steam. The food or drink contains the aromatic components, and preferably contains the volatile components as well as an aqueous extract of the tasty material.
Abstract:
A camera includes a first lens unit on which a light beam is incident from a subject, a reflective mirror for reflecting the light beam through the first lens unit, in a direction substantially perpendicular to the optical axis of the first lens unit, a first diaphragm member arranged on a surface of a lens of the first lens unit closest to the reflective mirror with the surface of the lens facing the reflective mirror, and which blocks unwanted rays of light other than the light beam that forms the image of the subject, a second lens unit on which the light beam reflected from the reflective mirror is incident, a second diaphragm member arranged between the first lens unit and the second lens unit blocks unwanted rays of light that travel outside the outermost periphery at which the light beam traveling from the first lens unit to the reflective member intersects the light beam traveling from the reflective mirror to the second lens unit, and an unwanted ray-of-light reflection prevention member arranged on the reflective mirror to prevent rays of light from being reflected from a region thereof other than the region thereof on which the light beam forming the subject image is incident.
Abstract:
The invention enables the user to designate a start mode even if the driver software, controlling the peripheral device, does not know the start mode (start timing and condition for the job processing) settable in the peripheral device, at the installation. The driver software requests, to the peripheral device, a list of the attribute values settable for the start mode, then displays the attribute values in the list to the user, and sets the attribute value, designated in the list, as the job attribute.

Further, IDT electrodes are formed on the piezoelectric substrate and are connected to an unbalanced type terminal, connection electrodes of connecting the IDT electrodes, the IDT electrodes IDT electrodes to the balanced type terminals or the unbalanced type terminal, and a dielectric thin film formed between the piezoelectric substrate and the IDT electrodes, the IDT electrodes, the connection electrodes.
Abstract:
Reading light (26) is phase-modulated by a phase-modulating spatial light modulator (12), the phase-modulated reading light (26) is Fourier-transformed, and an image of the Fourier-transformed reading light is focused on an output plane (24) to form an optical pattern. In this method, 0-order light in the phase-modulated reading light (26) is blurred on the output plane (24). As the 0-order light is blurred, the luminance of the 0-order light is reduced on the output plane (24). Since the 0-order light is not blocked, the shape of the optical pattern is not limited.
Abstract:
Herein disclosed is an optical disc driving apparatus adapted to selectively drive two kinds of optical discs different in diameter from each other to reproduce information recorded in the optical disc while reading out information in the optical disc. The optical disc driving apparatus comprises: a housing formed with a loading slot having the optical disc pass therethrough; a turntable for retaining the optical disc and, the turntable being supported by the housing and having a center axis, the turntable being driven to rotate around the center axis with the optical disc and being retained by the turntable to reproduce information recorded in the optical disc while reading out information in the optical disc; a guide plate positioned within the housing in the vicinity of the loading slot and supported by the housing, the guide plate having an inner surface contactable with the optical disc to guide the optical disc toward the turntable until the optical disc is retained by the turntable after being partly passed through the loading slot; a rotation shaft having a center axis and supported by the housing with the center axis being in parallel relationship with the inner surface of the guide plate and with the inner surface of the guide plate extending toward the turntable, the rotation shaft having three different longitudinal portions including first and second side portions axially spaced apart from each other, and a spacer portion intervening between the first and second side portions, the first and second side portions being tapered toward the spacer portion; and driving means for driving the rotation shaft to have the rotation shaft rotate around the center axis to ensure that the optical disc is conveyed toward the turntable by the rotation shaft while the optical disc is being guided by the guide plate.
