摘要:
A method for generating customized photo album pages for a collection of digital images comprises the steps of: (a) obtaining a plurality of digital images; (b) automatically grouping the images into one or more image sets based on at least one of grouping by events and grouping by people present in the images; (c) automatically profiling the images within each image set according to image content, thereby relating a particular image set to one or more design themes; (d) providing a database of design elements that may be used to generate customized photo album pages; (e) utilizing the design themes generated by the profiling step to automatically suggest one or more design elements from the database of design elements; and (f) automatically generating a customized photo album page layout for each image set by applying one or more of the suggested design elements to the page layout.

An image-record subject is identified for a plurality of image records in an image collection. Then, a sampling change-metric related to a changing characteristic of the image-record subject is identified, and sampling of at least a portion of the image collection occurs at least according to the sampling change-metric to obtain one or more image records for the subset. Information pertaining to results of the sampling step is stored in a computer-accessible memory system.

A context-based concept fusion method detects a first concept in an image record. The method includes automatically determining at least one other concept in the image record which has a contextual relationship with the first concept and which is to be labeled by a user of the method; and labeling the at least one other concept by the user with a ground truth label to be used in the context-based concept fusion method to improve detection of the first concept in the image record.

A method for obtaining and automatically classifying images into events comprising the steps of: (a) obtaining a group of images from a digital source, wherein the images are in chronological order; (b) transferring the group of images to a computer system; said computer system (c) clustering the images into smaller groups based on chronological image similarity of nearby images by computing histograms of the images and comparing histogram intersection values obtained therefrom with one or more thresholds, whereby the clustering based on chronological image similarity is done in at least one stage by comparing each image with its direct neighboring images; and (d) evaluating the clustered images against a final condition related to at least one of a predetermined group maximum for the number of smaller groups and a predetermined maximum number of isolated pictures, whereby the smaller groups are classified as events if the final condition is met.

A method of automated content-based grouping of digital images without using auxiliary metadata and training data set, comprises the steps of computing a color correlogram from image pixel values for each of the digital images, grouping the color correlograms into groups within a hierarchical structure based on relative similarities of the color correlograms, and assigning the images to the groups based on the hierarchical structure of the color correlograms.

Reference material in a digital graphics album is specified. Annotation data is extracted from the reference material and may be processed by a natural language processor to produce search keywords. In addition to the keywords, user directives may be provided, both of which are used to conduct a search for related graphical materials. The search is conducted by querying a graphical material database through a network connection. The search results are received and the user can select from the resultant materials for inclusion in the digital graphics album. If no satisfactory material is found, the user can specify a reference graphical image that is processed to produce search criteria that are image content descriptors. The database is again queried in accordance with these descriptors to provide search results for possible inclusion.

An albuming method includes the automatic adaptation of the page layout of a plurality of images to a boundary condition of an event. The method includes the steps of receiving a plurality of images having event-determining information that relates to one or more events to which the images pertain and the generation of an event boundary based on the on the event-determining information. The images for each event are then laid out into a page format adapted to the event boundary determined for that event. For example, if the page format is determined to have a maximum number of images per page, and if the number of images remaining for the last page are fewer than the maximum number, the page layout of the last or more pages of the event is automatically adapted to the event boundary by, e.g., adjusting the arrangement of the pictures on the last page.

The invention relates generally to the field of digital image processing, and in particular to a method for associating and viewing related video and still images. In particular, the present invention is directed to methods for associating and/or viewing digital content records comprising ordering a first set of digital content records and the second set of digital content records based upon information associated with each of the digital content records.
摘要:
A method for identifying a set of key video frames from a video sequence comprising extracting feature vectors for each video frame and applying a group sparsity algorithm to represent the feature vector for a particular video frame as a group sparse combination of the feature vectors for the other video frames. Weighting coefficients associated with the group sparse combination are analyzed to determine video frame clusters of temporally-contiguous, similar video frames. A summary is formed based on the determined video frame clusters.

A method for determining an estimated clutter level of an input digital image based on an inequality index. The inequality index is determined by analyzing the input digital image to determine a set of image features. The image features are associated with a set of designated reference features, and the inequality index is determined based on the statistical variation of the reference features. A set of scene content features relating to spatial structures or semantic content of the input digital image is determined by analyzing the input digital image. The estimated clutter is determined responsive to the inequality index and the scene content features.
