Abstract: Described is an apparatus of a User Equipment (UE) operable to communicate with a fifth-generation Evolved Node-B (gNB) on a wireless network. The first circuitry may be operable to process a Tracking Reference Signal (TRS) transmission and to process a Synchronizati on Signal block (SS-block) transmission. The second circuitry may be operable to measure a reference signal parameter based on the TRS transmission and the SS-block transmission.

Abstract: In one example, a method for a user equipment (UE) includes generating uplink (UL) signal data. The UL signal data includes UL control information (UCI) and UL shared channel (UL-SCH), the UCI includes a hybrid automatic repeat request acknowledge (HARQ-ACK) feedback or a channel state information (CSI) report, and the CSI report includes a first CSI part and a second CSI part. One or more resource regions are allocated to transmission of the HARQ-ACK feedback or the first CSI part and the second CSI part. When frequency hopping is enabled for a transmission of PUSCH, the allocated one or more resource regions for the transmission of the HARQ-ACK feedback or the first CSI part and the second CSI part are substantially equally divided into two portions, and each portion is transmitted in each frequency hop, frequency first mapping is applied to the transmission of PUSCH in each frequency hop.

Abstract: Technology for a user equipment (UE) to perform reduced transmission time interval (TTI) data transmission within a wireless communication network is disclosed. The UE can process a process, for transmission to an eNodeB, control information within a short transmission time interval (TTI) over a short TTI resource block (RB) set within a short physical uplink control channel (S-PUCCH), wherein the short TTI is shorter in time than a TTI that has a duration of at least one (1) millisecond, and wherein the S-PUCCH is a subset of resources available for a short physical uplink shared channel (S-PUSCH) and the S-PUSCH is a subset of resources available for a legacy PUSCH transmission; and process, for transmission to the eNodeB, data within the short TTI over the short TTI RB set within the S-PUSCH.

An embodiment provides an apparatus for an access node including a radio frequency (RF) interface; and processing circuitry configured to: determine a time density of a Tracking Reference Signal (TRS) based on a subcarrier spacing of a bandwidth part (BWP) in a current component carrier for a user equipment (UE); determine a frequency density of the TRS based on a bandwidth of the TRS; determine a quasi co-location (QCL) relationship of the TRS; and encode the TRS based on at least one of the time density, the frequency density and the QCL relationship for transmission to the UE via the RF interface. At least some embodiments allow for beam management, and allow for fine time and/or frequency offset tracking.

Abstract: Codebook designs are disclosed for full-dimensional multiple-input-multiple output (FD-MIMO) wireless cellular systems. The FD-MIMO cookbooks employ channel state information reference signals (CSI-RS). The codebook designs are used in beamforming CSI-RSs by the enhanced nodeB (eNB), where the CSI-RS is sent to the user equipment (UE), enabling the UE to perform channel estimation. The codebooks support beam selection, co-phasing between polarizations, and beam combining.

Abstract: A user equipment (UE) may receive information, via radio resource control (RRC) signaling, regarding a search space of a physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) for obtaining downlink control information (DCI) from a radio access network (RAN) node. Based on a slot format (SF) index in the DCI, the UE may determine a slot format for communicating with the RAN node, and communicate with the RAN node in accordance with the slot format. Additionally, a UE may communicate UE capability information, which may include a maximum number of blind decode attempts (BDAs), to the RAN node. The UE may determine shortened channel control elements (sCCEs) to be used, by the RAN node, to transmit shortened downlink control information (sDCI) via a shortened physical downlink control channel (sPDCCH), obtain sDCI by monitoring the sPDCCH in accordance with the determined sCCEs, and communicate with the RAN node in accordance with the sDCI.
