Abstract: Systems, apparatus, user equipment (UE), evolved node B (eNB), computer readable media, and methods are described for scheduling of multiple uplink transmissions in unlicensed spectrum. One embodiment involves receiving, at an eNB, a first uplink scheduling request from a UE, scheduling a plurality of uplink subframes on the unlicensed channel in response to the first uplink scheduling request, and initiating transmission of a first subframe to the first UE in response to the scheduling of the plurality of uplink subframes, wherein the first subframe comprises one or more downlink control indicators (DCIs) allocating the plurality of uplink subframes to the first UE.

Abstract: Devices, methods, user equipment (UE), evolved node B (eNB), and storage media are described suitable for coexistence operations for uplink communications on multiple unlicensed carriers. Various embodiments are implemented in LTE systems with license-assisted access (LAA) associated communications. In one embodiment, a UE processes one or more uplink grants from an eNB scheduling transmissions on multiple unlicensed carriers at a first time, and indicating a first channel access procedure. The UE then selects a first unlicensed carrier and performs the first channel access procedure, and performs a second channel access procedure on a second unlicensed carrier of the multiple unlicensed carriers.

The UE may receive a physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) that schedules a physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH) in a slot, and on a component carrier (CC) of a plurality of CCs, The PDCCH may include a total downlink assignment index (DAI) and a counter DAI for hybrid automatic repeat request acknowledgement (HARQ-ACK) feedback of the PDSCH. The total DAI may indicate a total number of pairs of CCs and slots for the HARQ-ACK feedback. The UE may encode the HARQ-ACK feedback to include a bit that indicates whether the PDSCH is successfully decoded. A size of the HARQ-ACK feedback may be based on the total DAI, and a position of the bit may be based on the counter DAI.

Abstract: Techniques for contention window size (CWS) adaptation (CWSA) are discussed. One example apparatus can comprise a processor that can receive HARQ messages UEs in response to PDSCH transmissions in one or more reference subframes. The HARQ messages can comprise HARQ-ACK values that denote a HARQ-ACK state for a transport block associated with License Assisted Access (LAA) operation, wherein each of the HARQ-ACK states is one of a DTX state, an ACK state, a NACK state, or an “any” state. The processor can also; determine a metric value for each of the HARQ-ACK states; calculate a CWS adjustment metric based on the determined metric values; increase a CWS to a next higher allowed value when the CWS adjustment metric is greater than or equal to a threshold; and reset the CWS to a minimum allowed value when the CWS adjustment metric is less than the threshold.

Abstract: Embodiments of a User Equipment (UE), Evolved Node-B (eNB) and methods for communication are generally described herein. The UE may receive downlink control information (DCI) that schedules a transport block (TB) that includes multiple code blocks. The UE may determine a transport block size (TBS) based on the DCI. The UE may attempt to decode the code blocks. The UE may, if the TBS is greater than a predetermined threshold: bundle the code blocks into code block groups for hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) acknowledgement; and transmit a HARQ bit per code block group. The UE may, if the TBS is less than or equal to the threshold, transmit a HARQ bit that indicates whether a decode failure has occurred for at least one of the code blocks of the TB.

Abstract: Techniques for channel state information (CSI) reporting are discussed. One example apparatus at a user equipment can derive, for one or more subframes of a license assisted access (LAA) secondary cell (SCell), one or more channel measurements based on reference signals (e.g., cell-specific reference signals (CRS) or CSI reference signals (CSI-RS)), in those subframes; generate CSI that comprises a channel quality indicator (CQI) based on an average of the one or more channel measurements from multiple subframes comprising a first subframe and a later second subframe, wherein each orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) symbol of a second slot of the first subframe is occupied, wherein each of a first three OFDM symbols of the second subframe are occupied, and wherein each OFDM symbol between the first subframe and the second subframe is occupied; and generate a CSI report that indicates the set of CSI parameters.

Abstract: A base station for secondary-cell (S-cell) operation in an unlicensed band is subject to listen-before-talk (LBT) rules. The apparatus generates S-cell discovery reference signal (DRS) that includes a primary synchronization signal (PSS) based on a cell ID associated with the base station, a secondary synchronization signal (SSS), a cell-specific reference signal (CRS), and optionally CSI-RS. Solutions are described for generating portions of the DRS to accommodate the placement of the DRS in arbitrary subframes.
