Abstract: A method includes: displaying a user interface including an instant messaging conversation between a first person and a second person, the instant messaging conversation displaying content balloons with instant messages exchanged between the first and second person. The method also includes: in accordance with a determination that the second person is typing the instant message, displaying a typed-message-preparation indicator in the user interface of a communication application. The method further includes: in accordance with a determination that the second person is drawing the instant message, displaying a drawn-message-preparation indicator in the user interface of the communication application. In response to receiving the instant message prepared by the second person that corresponds to the displayed message preparation indicator, the method includes: ceasing to display the typed-message-preparation indicator or the drawn-message-preparation indicator, and displaying a content balloon that contains the instant message prepared by the second person in the instant messaging conversation.

Abstract: An example method is performed at a device with a touch-sensitive surface and a display. The method includes: displaying a position indicator within displayed text while an input object meets hover criteria. The method also includes: detecting a first movement of the input object that includes a component of movement parallel to the touch-sensitive surface. In response to detecting the first movement, the method includes: moving the position indicator in accordance with the first movement. After moving the position indicator, the method includes: detecting a second movement of the input object. And, the method includes in response to detecting the second movement and in accordance with a determination that the second movement of the input object is detected while the input object is in contact with the touch-sensitive surface, selecting text in accordance with the second movement of the input object.

Abstract: An electronic device having a touch-sensitive surface displays a plurality of user interface objects, detects selection of a first user interface object, detects a gesture that includes movement of a contact across the touch-sensitive surface, and in response, moves the first user interface object on the display within a predefined distance of a second user interface object. If the gesture meets predefined intensity criteria, the device performs a first device-generated alignment operation, including moving the second user interface object into alignment with the first user interface object, and if the gesture does not meet the predefined intensity criteria, the device performs a second device-generated alignment operation, includes moving the first user interface object into alignment with the second user interface object by adjusting a position of the first user interface object with respect to a current position of the second user interface object on the display.

Abstract: A method is performed at an electronic device with a display, touch-sensitive surface and one or more sensors to detect intensity of contacts with the touch-sensitive surface. The method includes displaying a user interface with a first region and a second region embedded in the first, the second region also being independently scrollable such that its content can be moved without moving other content in the first region. In response to detecting a contact and movement of the contact when a focus selection is over the second region, and when the contact has a maximum intensity that is above a respective intensity threshold, content in the second region is translated on the display without other content translating the first region. When the contact has a maximum intensity that is below a respective intensity threshold, content in the first region is translated on the display.

Abstract: In some embodiments, a device displays functionality information in response to receiving an indication of a first input for which a contact meets functionality display criteria. In some embodiments, a device generates a user interface that includes a navigation bar including images from different positions in a respective content item, and a representation of an adjacent content item. In some embodiments, a device moves a selection-indicator in a user interface by a predefined amount in response to receiving an indication of a first input that meets unitary movement criteria. Abstract: An electronic device displays a user interface in a first display state. The device detects a first portion of a gesture on a touch-sensitive surface, including detecting intensity of a respective contact of the gesture. In response to detecting the first portion of the gesture, the device displays an intermediate display state between the first display state and a second display state. In response to detecting the end of the gesture: if intensity of the respective contact had reached a predefined intensity threshold prior to the end of the gesture, the device displays the second display state; otherwise, the device redisplays the first display state. After displaying an animated transition between a first display state and a second state, the device, optionally, detects an increase of the contact intensity. In response, the device displays a continuation of the animation in accordance with the increasing intensity of the respective contact.
