    摘要: An airbag that can be removed from its receiving shaft in the vehicle and reinserted again without any special tools is described. The airbag module (2) is provided with a locking device (8, 9, 12, 13, 14, 15) and electric contacts (23, 24, 25, 26) which cause the airbag module (2) to be mechanically locked when inserted into a receiving shaft (1) provided in the vehicle and cause an electric connection to be established between at least one ignition device (6, 7) and a controller. The locking device (8, 9, 12, 13, 14, 15) and the electric contacts (23, 24, 25, 26) are designed so that when the airbag module (2) is inserted into the receiving shaft (1), it is first locked mechanically and then the electric contact is established, and on removal of the airbag module (2) from the receiving shaft (1), the electric contact is released first and then the mechanical lock is released.

    摘要: An apparatus and method for actuating a safety system for protecting an occupant of a motor vehicle measures the acceleration of the vehicle with a first sensor along a first axis oriented substantially parallel to the forward direction of motion of the vehicle. The acceleration of the vehicle is also measured with a second sensor along a second axis oriented at an angle relative to the first axis. The acceleration signal generated by the first sensor is evaluated by an analog processor and the acceleration signal generated by the second sensor is evaluated by a digital processor. The safety system is then actuated based upon both the analog and digital evaluations.

    摘要: An air bag system is provided for use in a motor vehicle. The air bag system includes at least one air bag module. A multiple level gas generation source is coupled to the air bag module for generating a selected gas generation level applied to the air bag module. An electronic control unit controls the operation of multiple level gas generation source. At least one temperature sensor is coupled to the electronic control unit for sensing ambient temperature. At least one seat belt sensor is coupled to the electronic control unit for sensing seat belt usage. An acceleration sensor is coupled to the electronic control unit for sensing deceleration during a crash. The electronic control unit is responsive to a combination of sensed inputs from the temperature sensor, the seat belt sensor and the acceleration sensor for determining both an optimum gas generation level and inflation sequence times for controlling the multiple level gas generation source.

    摘要: To facilitate assembly and provide for high-level output from a deceleration sensor which provides, inherently, only very low level output, an evaluation circuit, such as an amplifier structure, is connected immediately adjacent the deceleration sensor on a common metal plate, interconnected thereby by bonding wires, the common plate having connecting pins (18) passing therethrough for connection to a standard plug-and-socket connector; the evaluation circuit and the deceleration sensor are enclosed within a common sealed housing, so that both the deceleration sensor (12, 12') as well as the evaluation circuit (16, 17) are sealed against ambient influences, preferably retained within a high-viscosity fluid, such as insulating oil. All elements can be located on one side of the housing, in which a standard T5 transistor housing is suitable; or the deceleration sensor may be located on the other side of the metal plate (10) from the evaluation circuit, in which case a plastic housing can be used, only the deceleration sensor being secured to the metal plate by a metal housing cap, sealed to the metal plate.
