摘要: A reproducing apparatus for a magneto-optical recording medium has, at one end of a swing arm, a magneto-optical head provided with a slider and a solid immersion lens. A reproducing light beam-detecting system is installed to the other end of the swing arm. During reproduction on a magneto-optical recording medium, an alternating magnetic field is applied while radiating a reproducing light beam which is power-modulated to have a low power and a high power in synchronization with a reproducing clock. The reproducing light beam having the low power causes transfer of a magnetic domain in the information-recording layer to the reproducing layer and magnification thereof. The reproducing light beam having the high power extinguishes the magnified magnetic domain. Minute magnetic domains can be individually reproduced at high C/N.

摘要: A plate spring is provided on a back surface of a shutter of a cartridge. When the shutter is closed, the plate spring presses a disk in a cartridge case against an inner wall surface of a lower case so that the disk is immovable in the case. When the shutter is open, the plate spring is retracted into a space between an inner surface of the shutter and a surface of an upper case. The disk is supported immovably and uniformly in the cartridge. Therefore, deformation such as warpage of the disk hardly occurs. Even when the cartridge is stored in any posture, it is possible to avoid deformation such as warpage and flexure of the disk in the cartridge during the storage.

摘要: An inspection method and an inspection apparatus can readily and reliably test a temporarily bundled circuit in which each end of the wires 22A, 22B, 22C, 22D, and 22E is free. A temporary bunling connector 18 is coupled to an inspection connector 19. Each of the wires 22A, 22B, 22C, 22D, and 22E is drawn so that each of the terminals 21 passes between electrodes 11 in a gate electrode unit 5. Each of the indicator lamp 16 on a circuit checker 15 is respectively lit when each of the terminals 21 contacts with each of the electrodes 11 upon passing through the unit 5. The indicator lamp 16 is not lit if there is any fault such as misplacement or breakage of a wire, as there is no electrical communication between the terminal 21 and the electrode 11 in such a case.

摘要: A method and apparatus for grinding a cylindrical surface of a workpiece by a traverse movement of a grinding wheel having a relatively narrow grinding surface. To improve the cylindricity of cylindrical surface, the traverse grinding is divided into a rough traverse grinding and a finish traverse grinding. In the rough traverse grinding, a traverse girding is carried out with a large depth of cut which would causes a deterioration of the cylindricity at one end of the cylindrical surface. In the finish traverse grinding, a traverse girding is carried out with a small depth of cut to improve the cylindricity. In another embodiment, one of grinding conditions such as the traverse speed of the grinding wheel, the rotational speed of the workpiece and the peripheral speed of the grinding wheel is changed when the grinding wheel approaches an end of the cylindrical surface at which the traverse grinding ends so as to make the grinding force constant, thereby improving the cylindricity of the cylindrical surface. In other embodiments, the position of the wheel head is compensated based upon the measured diameter of the cylindrical surface so that the entire area of the cylindrical surface has a desired diameter. This compensation also improves the cylindricity of the cylindrical surface.

摘要: Disclosed herein is an information recording medium which is composed of a substrate, underlayer, and recording film and is capable of recording information by means of depressions or pits which are formed on the recording film upon irradiation with a recording energy beam, said information recording medium being characterized in that the recording film is provided with a supporting layer on at least one side of the recording film, said supporting layer having a melting point which is lower than that of the recording film, or on that side of the recording film which is adjacent to the substrate, said supporting layer having a melting point which is higher than that of the recording film. Owing to these features, the information recording medium gives recording pits having a smaller rim inner diameter, so that it achieves a high recording power margin for high-density recording.

摘要: A grinding machine having an angular type grinding wheel and a dressing apparatus therefor. The grinding wheel is formed with first and second grinding surfaces usable for grinding a cylindrical surface and shoulder end surface of a workpiece, respectively, and first and second reference surfaces parallel to the first and second grinding surfaces, respectively. The positions of the first and second reference surfaces and the first and second grinding surfaces are detected with touch bars before each dressing operation so as to obtain a first distance between the first grinding surface and first reference surface, and a second distance between the second grinding surface and second reference surface. After that, a first dressing amount for dressing the first grinding surface and a second dressing amount for dressing the second grinding surface are so determined that the first distance and the second distance would have a predetermined constant relationship after dressing operation. The first grinding surface is then dressed by the first dressing amount, while the second grinding surface is dressed by the second dressing amount.

摘要: A grinding machine for grinding outer and/or inner surfaces of a workpiece which is provided on its indexable wheel head with an outer surface grinding wheel, inner surface grinding wheel and a measuring device having a touch probe engagable with a reference surface of the workpiece. A numerical controller having a memory for memorizing data indicating positional and angular relationships between the outer surface grinding wheel, the inner surface grinding wheel and the touch probe is provided. The numerical controller first indexes the measuring device to a location facing the workpiece, and moves the workpiece along its rotational axis until the measuring device outputs a touch signal. After that, the numerical controller calculates a moving amount of the workpiece for an outer grinding operation based upon data memorized in the memory, and moves the table by the calculated amount in order to grind the outer surface of the workpiece. When a inner surface of a workpiece is machined, the inner grinding wheel is indexed to a position facing the workpiece based upon the data indicating angular relationship, after the workpiece is positioned based upon the touch signal from the measuring device. Thereafter, the table is moved based upon data indicating positional relationship between the inner surface grinding wheel and the touch probe in order to locate the inner surface grinding wheel to a predetermined grinding starting position of the inner grinding operation.

摘要: A method of recording information by changing a recording medium through irradiation with an energy beam such as a light beam, electron beam or the like. A single pulse or a plurality of pulses are employed for forming recorded dots. The pulse has a pulse width shorter than a time required for the center of energy beam spot to move from one to other end of the dot upon recording thereof. By virtue of the possibility of reversible change even in a recording film susceptible to high rate speed of change, the rate of information transfer can be increased. Overwrite recording can also be accomplished with the single laser beam. An increased amount of information can be handled in the recording and reproduction.
