摘要： A cleaning device for cleaning an image carrier by removing toner and other residues left thereon of the present invention includes a brush having tips, which contact the surface of the image carrier, provided with a loop configuration and a contact pressure of 50 g/cm2. A toner collecting space is located at a position adjacent to the brush and at which the tips of the brush contacted the surface of the image carrier arrive in accordance with the movement of the brush.

摘要： A transfer device for transferring a toner image formed on an image carrier onto a transfer material conveyed on a transfer belt. The transfer device includes a cleaning member having a dielectric surface layer for cleaning a surface of the transfer belt, and a bias application unit for applying to the cleaning member a cleaning bias having an opposite polarity to an electric charge polarity of a toner forming the toner image. Further, specific characteristic values of the dielectric surface layer are set to achieve a higher than predetermined cleaning level, such as setting a volume resistivity of the dielectric surface layer is set to 1E4 ohms/square or more.

摘要： An image forming apparatus including a fixing unit, detachably provided in the image forming apparatus, to fix a toner image transferred on a sheet onto the sheet, and a fixing unit falling off preventing device to prevent the fixing unit from falling off of the image forming apparatus. The fixing, unit falling off preventing device includes a first fixing unit supporting member and a second fixing unit supporting member which each support the fixing unit at a predetermined position within the image formate apparatus. The first fixing unit supporting member releases support of the fixing unit upon being depress ed, and the second fixing unit supporting member releases support of the fixing unit upon being rotated in a predetermined direction. In a second embodiment, the image forming, apparatus includes a case having a knob at a part thereof so that the second fixing unit supporting member, of the fixing unit falling off preventing device, has a knob part which opposes the knob of the case of the fixing unit in a vicinity thereof, and which releases the support of the fixing unit by being moved in a predetermnined direction while being held at the knob part thereof. In a third embodiment, the second fixing unit supporting member, of the fixing, unit falling off preventing device, is configured to restrict and release a movement of the first fixing, unit supporting member in a direction to release the support of the fixing unit.

摘要： A developing device which includes a first toner transporting roller, a second toner transporting roller to which toner is transported from the first toner transporting roller and an image bearing member such as a photoconductive drum or belt. Seals are located between the circumferential ends of one of the toner transporting rollers and a bottom portion of a toner hopper. When the seals are between the bottom of toner hopper and the first toner transporting roller, the first toner transporting roller is longer than the second toner transporting roller and the circumferential portions of the first toner transporting roller which contact the seals do not contact the second toner transporting roller. Alternatively, when the seals are between the bottom of toner hopper and the second toner transporting roller, the second toner transporting roller is longer than the first toner transporting roller and the circumferential portions of the second toner transporting roller which contact the seals do not contact the first toner transporting roller. Additionally, when the seals contact the second toner transporting roller, side seals may be placed against the ends of the first toner transporting roller. In both of these arrangements, the length of the second toner transporting roller is shorter than a length of an effective area of a photoconductive layer on the image bearing member.

摘要： A recording and/or reproducing apparatus for a disc shaped recording medium having a first recording region in which an information signal is recorded using pits and a second recording region in which an information signal is recorded using a magneto-optical method includes a rotational driving unit, a servo apparatus and a controller. A head moves between the first and second recording regions of the disc-shaped recording medium and records and reproduces information signals to and from the disc-shaped recording medium. The rotational driving unit rotates the disc-shaped recording medium at a constant linear velocity by using the output signal outputted from the head. The servo apparatus generates a servo signal according to an error signal generated using the output signal from the head and carries out servo control on the head and the rotational driving unit. The controller determines which of the first or second regions of the disc-shaped recording medium the head is in based on the output signal from the head and then uses this determination result to control the servo apparatus.

摘要： A developing device for an image forming apparatus and using a single component type developer, i.e., toner, has a developing roller, a doctor blade, and an elastic intermediae roller. The developing roller and intermediate roller contact each other and rotate in the same directions such that they move in opposite directions at the position where they contact each other. 摘要： A cleaning unit provided in a xerographic image forming apparatus removes residual toner from a photosensitive belt after a transfer process for transferring a developed image from the photosensitive belt to a recording sheet. The cleaning unit includes a cleaning blade for scraping the residual toner from the photosensitive belt, and a housing for storing the residual toner scraped by the cleaning blade. The cleaning blade has a slanting surface formed between a top surface of the cleaning blade and an end of the cleaning blade, the slanting blade slanting from the top surface toward the end of the cleaning blade so as to be inclined at a predetermined angle with respect to the top surface. The developer scraped by the cleaning blade is entered in the housing via the slanting surface and the top surface of the cleaning blade. The cleaning unit further includes a sweeping plate for feeding the residual toner scraped from the photosensitive belt by the cleaning blade into the housing, via a top surface of the cleaning blade.

摘要： A system for calculating a movement direction and position of a movable object such as an unmanned vehicle running within a factory and a method therefor are disclosed in which an image pick up camera such as a video camera photographs a background of the movable object to generate a background two-dimensional image. Positions of vanishing point and side ends of a passage on which the movable object is to move are derived from the background photographed two-dimensional image. The movement direction of the movable object is derived from the detected vanishing point. Distances of the movable object from both sides ends of the passage are derived on the basis of the detected vanishing point and positions of side ends of the passage. the movement direction and position of the movable object thus detected are used to control movement of the movable object. The vanishing point is detected on the basis of edge directions at all points constituting and edge on the background two-dimensional image.
