Abstract: A communication system, a method, and one or more non-transitory computer-readable storage devices allowing joint a user equipment to perform initial access with terrestrial and non-terrestrial communication nodes of a service area. The user equipment uses positioning reference signals from positioning anchors to determine its location, determine a zone from the terrestrial and non-terrestrial initial-access zones based on the location, select one of the terrestrial and non-terrestrial communication nodes based on the determined zone, and establishing communication with the selected communication node.

Abstract: Systems and methods for sidelink configuration are provided. A transmitting user equipment (UE) transmits configuration parameters relating to a sidelink transmission between the UE and a second UE via higher-layer signalling and then transmits the sidelink transmission to the second UE. The higher layer signalling is a layer above the sidelink transmission. The parameters may include feedback channel parameters or parameters for sidelink reference signal transmission by the second UE. The parameters may be selected by the transmitting UE, or they may be received initially from the network. The parameters may be part of a sidelink configured grant configuration (SL CG) signalled to the second UE. The sidelink transmission may be a configured-grant transmission to the second UE according to the SL CG configuration. The higher layer signalling may be PC5 signalling or RRC signaling.

The NR downlink signals may have a zero power level, or otherwise be blanked, over resources that carry the LTE signal(s).

Abstract: In accordance with embodiments, methods for data communications are disclosed. A device obtains a forward error correction (FEC) encoded bit stream. The device maps the FEC encoded bit stream to produce a set of symbols according to a bit-to-symbol mapping rule. The bit-to-symbol mapping rule comprises a first mapper bit position associated with a first mapper error protection level and a second mapper bit position associated with a second mapper error protection level. The first mapper error protection level is greater than the second mapper error protection level. The device then transmits the set of symbols in the communications system.
