Abstract: According to one embodiment, a display device includes an insulating substrate having a main surface, a switching element, a first pixel electrode electrically connected to the switching element, a second pixel electrode adjacent to the first pixel electrode, a wiring line provided between the first pixel electrode and the second pixel electrode, a convex portion provided between the wiring line and a liquid crystal layer, overlapping the wiring line and extending along the wiring line, and a black film formed into a belt-like shape overlapping the convex portion and having an inclined surface which inclines with respect to the main surface.

Abstract: According to one embodiment, a display system includes an external light sensor, a display panel, a viewing angle control panel including a liquid crystal layer containing liquid crystal molecules twist-aligned, configured such that a drive voltage applied to the liquid crystal layer is controlled based on an external light intensity detected by the external light sensor, and a polarization axis rotation element disposed between the viewing angle control panel and the display panel. The drive voltage when the external light intensity is less than a threshold value is greater than the drive voltage when the external light intensity is greater or equal to than the threshold value.

Abstract: A display device includes an electrode layer and a liquid crystal layer. The electrode layer has a first electrode and a second electrode. The second electrode is opposed to the first electrode and having a plurality of openings extending in a same extending direction. The liquid crystal layer is disposed on the electrode layer. Abstract: According to one embodiment, a liquid crystal display device includes scanning and video signal lines, pixel electrodes and first and second common electrodes. The pixel electrodes include first and second pixel electrodes with linear electrodes and connection portion. In the first pixel electrodes, the linear electrodes overlap the first common electrode, and the connection portion overlaps first slit between the first and second common electrodes. In the second pixel electrodes, the linear electrodes overlap the second common electrode, and the connection portion overlaps second slit between the second and first common electrodes. Different potentials are applied to the first and second common electrodes.

Abstract: According to one embodiment, a display device includes a first substrate with a first alignment film, a second substrate with a second alignment film, and a liquid crystal layer interposed therebetween. The first substrate has first and second electrodes. Abstract: The present display device includes a liquid crystal panel having a liquid crystal layer between an array substrate and a facing substrate. The array substrate has an electrode layer having an upper electrode and a lower electrode facing each other in a Z direction, and an opening including a plurality of slits extending in an X direction is formed in the upper electrode and the lower electrode. Abstract: In this display device, an electrode layer for an upper electrode and a lower electrode is formed on an array substrate via a dielectric film, one of the upper electrode and the lower electrode is a pixel electrode, the other thereof is a common electrode, and an opening portion for generating horizontal electric field in a liquid crystal layer is formed in accordance with a shape of the electrode layer in a plan view. A CF substrate has a light-shielding film (BM) including a lateral BM portion. The opening portion has a plurality of slits in an X direction, and an end portion of an outermost slit in a Y direction is concealed by the lateral BM portion overlapped in a Z direction.
