    摘要: A plurality of reflective spatial light modulator arrays combined together to form a larger display. Each array can include a plurality of light modulating elements disposed on a substrate. Dead space may exist between active areas and/or at a perimeter of the light modulating elements. A plurality of optical elements each having an input aperture and an output aperture can be used to reduce the effect of the dead space. The input apertures are disposed distally and the output apertures are disposed proximally respectively to the light modulating elements such that light received propagates exits the output apertures to the light modulating elements. The input apertures are larger than the output apertures thereby reducing the amount of dead space between active areas of light modulating elements seen be a viewer. Display drive circuitry can be disposed away from dead space at the perimeter of the arrays and electrically connected to the light modulating elements at locations between the light modulating elements on a substrate. The plurality of arrays can be arranged in a larger array to create a large display. The light modulating elements can include microelectromechanical systems such as interferometric modulators.

The second display element is in an actuated state when the voltage difference has a magnitude greater than a second actuation voltage and is in a released state when the voltage difference has a magnitude less than a second release voltage. Either the actuation voltages are substantially equal and the release voltages are different, or the actuation voltages are different and the release voltages are substantially equal.

In one embodiment, a display system includes one driving circuit configured to provide signals based on video data intended for display, and a bi-stable display comprising an array having a plurality of bi-stable display elements. The array is configured to display video data using signals received from the driving circuit, and the driving circuit is configured to partition the array into two or more fields, each field including at least one bi-stable display element, and refresh each of the two or more fields in accordance with a refresh rate associated with each field. In another embodiment, a method of displaying data on a display of a client device includes partitioning a bi-stable display of the client device into two or more fields, displaying video data in the two or more fields, and refreshing each of the two or more fields in accordance with a refresh rate that is associated with each field.
