摘要： A customer prints a ticket that includes customer security features that appear on the printed ticket. The features, such as a digital photograph of the customer, are checked by the merchant when the ticket is presented. If the security features do not match a ticket holder's features, the merchant denies admission to the ticket holder. The background area of the printed ticket contains a pattern to make it difficult for someone to insert other security features onto the ticket. The printed ticket includes a barcode that can be scanned by the merchant for fast retrieval of the purchaser's security features previously provided by the customer to the merchant. The retrieved security features are compared to both the ticket holder's features and the security features that appear on the printed ticket. A discrepancy during any of these comparisons enables the merchant to identify the imposter and deny admission.

摘要： A method, system and program for brokering and facilitating consumer projects in an electronic system are provided. A buyer submits a project request to a broker system. The broker system distributes the project request to multiple prospective manufacturers from among a catalog of manufacturers. Manufacturers submit bids and other indicators of the feasibility of manufacturing the project. The broker system facilitates obtaining a manufacturer who can feasibly manufacture the project request. The buyer selects a preferred manufacturer from among those obtained by the broker server, such that a buyer's project request is brokered to multiple manufacturers and a preferred manufacturer is then procured to produce the project.

摘要： A microbrowser such as web-enabled wireless telephones and personal digital assistants allows a user to configure types of objects to be blocked from download including object memory consumption, display area, download time, and restrictions on animated images and executable scripts. Microbrowser state conditions such as battery level and network connection mode are considered when providing said limitations such that more restrictions may be placed during low battery periods to maximize battery life. For example, during low battery conditions or analog connection mode, a user may configure an enhanced microbrowser not to download advertisements, run scripts or animated objects in order to maximize remaining battery life. In another example, a user may configure an enhanced microbrowser to block the download of objects containing audio, or which will occupy more than a certain percentage of the available display area.

摘要： Several embodiments of an electronic document delivery system are described including a client machine (e.g., a palmtop/handheld computer or wireless communication device) coupled to a transcoder proxy. The system allows a client machine with limited resources to provide an assistive technology solution for a physically challenged user. In one embodiment, the client machine includes an assistive technology which functions as an interface for a device (e.g., a Braille display or a speech engine). The transcoder proxy receives an electronic document expressed in a first digital format (e.g., HTML or XML). The transcoder proxy assigns a unique identifier to the element, and forms a model of a logical structure of the document (e.g., a document object model or DOM). The transcoder proxy uses the model to produce an “original” script including a portion of the document expressed in a second digital format (e.g., a scripting language). The client machine uses the original script to present the document portion. The client machine generates an assistive technology event in response to user input via the assistive technology device, associates the assistive technology event with the element, and provides assistive technology event information and the element identifier to the transcoder proxy. The transcoder proxy accesses the element within the model using the identifier, uses the model to produce a “modification” script, and provides the modification script to the client machine. The client machine uses the modification script to modify the presented portion of the document.

Information is received indicating selection of a region of the displayed content to magnify. A determination is made of at least one region of the selected region including image content. The server maintains a high resolution file version and a low resolution file version of the image content. A determination is then made as to whether the selected image content from the displayed image file is the low resolution file version. If so, a command is generated to retrieve from the server specific byte locations from the high resolution file version including the image content in the selected region. The specified bytes are less than all the image data bytes in the high resolution version of the file if the image content in the selected region comprises less than all of the image content maintained in the high resolution version of the file.

摘要： A method and system that allows individuals to transmit an alarm signal from a personal alarm device having a keypad, programmable register, a transmitter, and electrical power source. The keypad facilitates entry of a call-back telephone number into a programmable memory register and triggering the transmission of an alarm signal. The alarm signal is transmitted to a central alarm monitoring server that processes the alarm signal and initiates the necessary actions, including notifying relevant emergency response authorities and selectively contacting the individual at the call-back telephone number, if provided, or at a telephone number previously stored in a user preferences database in association with the user's account. The personal alarm device may have either normal and duress alarm buttons or have a keypad for entry of either a normal PIN code or a duress PIN code.
