    摘要: A method and structure of an electrical connector is provided for tuning the impedance of the connector according to a given impedance of an electrical circuit in which the connector is interconnected. The connector includes a dielectric housing having a receptacle for receiving a complementary mating connector. A plurality of terminals are mounted on the housing. The terminals include body portions located in the housing and contact portions located at the receptacle for engaging appropriate terminals of the mating connector when inserted into the receptacle. The areas of the body portions of the terminals are selectively varied to vary the capacitance of the terminals and, therefore, the impedance of the connector to match the given impedance of the electrical circuit. When the connector is used for mounting to a printed circuit board, ground terminals have at least two feet for engaging a respective single ground trace of a common ground circuit on the printed circuit board for reducing the inductance between a particular ground terminal and its respective circuit trace.

The stack may be provided with a lubrication layer provided between at least two of the conductors. Conductors of the stack may have a thickness that is greater proximate the middle of the stack than at the top and bottom of the stack and/or a width that is less at the top and the bottom than at the middle. Further stacks may also be provided parallel and coplanar with the first stack, also surrounded by the polymer jacket.

    摘要: An electrical connector (20) includes an elongated dielectric housing (22) having a longitudinal cavity (28) for receiving a terminal module (26). The module includes a dielectric insert (30) received in the cavity and mounting a plurality of terminals (32) having tail portions (42) projecting from the housing. An elongated tail aligning device (24) is mountable on the housing and has a plurality of apertures (68) through which the tail portions (42) of the terminals (32) project. The tail aligning device (24) includes flanges or guide rails (72) which, after full assembly, serve to hold the modules (26) in the housing cavity (28). The guide rails fit into guide channels (60) on the housing and the aligning device is held to the housing by snap-latches (62,76).

    摘要: A connector 20 assembly comprises a coaxial cable 22 having an inner conductor 27 and a dielectric 29 between the outer conductor 25 and the inner conductor 27. The coaxial cable 22 has one end defined by a cross-sectional perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the coaxial cable 22 and intersecting the outer conductor 25 at or inward of the apex of a crest and forming an annular flared end portion 31. A clamping member has a contact surface in contact with the inside surface 33 of the flared end portion 31 of the outer conductor 25, an expandable-retractable clamping ring in the valley adjacent to the flared end portion 31 and an attachment holding the annular wedging surface pressed against the clamping ring and the clamping ring wedged against the outside surface of the flared end portion 31 of the outer conductor 25 to provide electrical contact between the contact surface and the inside surface 33 of the flared end portion 31.

    摘要: A high performance card edge connector includes a housing with an elongated printed circuit card receiving slot in a top wall. Terminals are mounted in transverse cavities intersected by the slot. Alternate cavity portions receive a pair of signal terminals and interspersed alternate cavity portions receive single ground terminals. Each terminal includes a downwardly extending board contact portion for connection to a printed circuit board and a card contact portion in the slot for engagement with a contact pad of an inserted card. Each signal terminal pair is flanked two ground terminals on the same side of the slot and is transversely opposite a ground terminal on the opposite side of the slot. A uniform identical cavity configuration permits each cavity portion to receive either a ground terminal or a pair of signal terminals.
