    摘要: A fiber optic cable includes: a plurality of optical fibers; a tube circumferentially surrounding the optical fibers, the tube being formed of a first polymeric material; an armor circumferentially surrounding and fixed relative to the tube, the armor being formed of a metallic material; and a jacket circumferentially surrounding the armor, the jacket being formed of a second polymeric material. In this configuration, the cable can provide the requisite mechanical, electrical, handling and connectorizing properties for use in applications such as pavement crossings.

    摘要: The present invention provides a coaxial cable having increasing moisture absorbency to remove moisture present in the cable and to prevent corrosion of the conductors in the cable. The coaxial cable of the invention includes an inner conductive tube, a moisture-absorbent material within the inner conductive tube, a dielectric surrounding the inner conductive tube, and a tubular metallic outer sheath surrounding the dielectric. The present invention further includes a method of making a coaxial cable that is capable of absorbing moisture that is present in the cable.

    摘要: A flexible coaxial cable includes a core including at least one inner conductor and a foam polymer dielectric surrounding the inner conductor. The flexible coaxial cable also includes an electrically and mechanically continuous tubular copper sheath closely surrounding the core and adhesively bonded to the core. A protective outer jacket surrounds the tubular metallic sheath and is adhesively bonded to the tubular metallic sheath to increase the bending properties of the cable. The bond peel strength of the adhesive bond between the polymer jacket and the sheath is no more than 36 lb./in to provide a coaxial cable having excellent bending characteristics and which can be easily stripped to provide an electrical connection between the coaxial cable and other conductive elements. The present invention also includes a method of making flexible coaxial cable.

    摘要: A method of making a coaxial cable includes forming a conductive tube and setting a settable material therein to define an inner conductor. Forming may include advancing a conductive strip and bending it into a tube having a longitudinal seam. The settable material may be dispensed onto the conductive strip continuously with the forming. Alternately, the settable material may be dispensed onto the conductive strip prior to advancing. The dispensing may use a puller cord as the settable material or carrying some or all of the settable material. The method may further include forming a dielectric layer surrounding the inner conductor, and forming an outer conductor surrounding the dielectric layer.
