摘要: A systematic approach to planning and selection of a dental implant. Models of the patient's dentition, including the gingival and supporting bone structure are analyzed in relation to a model of the dentition that will be replaced by the implant. Based on information collected from a missing tooth (or teeth) model, greater insight can be gained into the functional and aesthetic attributes of the implant best suited for the patient. And from this realization a more informed decision can be made for planning the procedure for installation of the implant for the patient, and selection of the implant, e.g., size, type and orientation of supporting fixture and abutment.

摘要: Fabricating polymeric shell appliances for moving a patient's teeth. A first tooth arrangement model is formed by placing models of individual teeth representing the patient's teeth onto a plurality of platforms of a frame approximating a shape and size of a jaw of the patient, wherein each model tooth comprises a coupling member for coupling the model tooth with a platform of the plurality of platforms. A first polymeric shell appliance is formed over the first tooth arrangement model or a copy thereof. At least a second tooth arrangement model is formed by rearranging at least some of the individual teeth relative to the frame. At least a second polymeric shell appliance is formed over the second tooth arrangement model or a copy thereof.

摘要: Methods and apparatus for visualizing and manipulating three-dimensional digital dental models and related methods and apparatus for dental treatments are disclosed. In one aspect, a method for visualizing and manipulating a three-dimensional digital dental model may comprise viewing the three-dimensional digital dental model and using hand gestures to instruct a computer to manipulate one or more teeth in the digital dental model. In other aspects, a dental treatment method may comprise viewing a three-dimensional digital model, using hand gestures, a conventional keyboard, and/or a conventional mouse to instruct a computer to manipulate one or more teeth in the digital model to generate a three-dimensional digital model of a modified arrangement of the subject's teeth, and fabricating one or more dental aligners configured to reposition the subject's teeth into the modified arrangement. Viewing may comprise stereoscopically viewing a digital dental model.

摘要: Described herein are methods for making highly accurate layered dental models from a cast of a subject's oral cavity (e.g., the upper or lower dental arch) that avoid shrinkage or deformation. The methods may include the steps of sequentially preparing the model-forming material, applying a layer of model-forming material to a cast, and curing the layer before applying the next layer. The model-forming material may include one or more stabilizers (e.g. thermal stabilizers). Dental models having multiple layers are also described.
