摘要: A method, apparatus, and computer program for protecting transmissions are provided. A wireless communication apparatus receives a physical layer convergence protocol header of a transmission on a frequency band and determines from header information included in the header, whether or not there are further transmissions associated with the transmission and after the transmission on the frequency band. In response to determining on the basis of the header information that there will be at least one other transmission after the transmission on the frequency band, channel access of the wireless communication apparatus is suspended on the frequency band for a determined time period after the transmission, the determined time period including a transmission time interval of the at least one other transmission.

摘要: An apparatus determines a wireless traffic load; generates at least one timer value based at least in part on the determined traffic load; and initiates a wireless transmission at a time based at least in part on the at least one timer value. The at least one timer value indicates a time for initiating a transmission after changing from a lower power state to a higher power state. In an exemplary embodiment the wireless traffic load is determined via continuous monitoring and initiating the transmission includes obtaining a transmission opportunity for sending a trigger frame or a power save poll frame. Various exemplary techniques are detailed as to how to determine the traffic load. The generated at least one timer value is a maximum time, which may be truncated for example after the apparatus receives a data unit by which to obtain a network allocation vector.

摘要: In one aspect thereof the invention provides a method that includes transmitting a beacon frame from a first mesh point to a second mesh point; determining if a trigger frame is received at the first mesh point within some predetermined period of time from the second mesh point and, if the trigger frame is not received, transmitting a request to trigger frame from the first mesh point to the second mesh point. In another aspect thereof the invention provides a method that includes receiving a request to trigger frame at a first mesh point from a second mesh point and in response, transmitting an acknowledgment to the request to trigger frame to the second mesh point. A computer-readable medium storing program instructions to implement the methods is also disclosed, as are corresponding apparatus.

摘要: Various embodiments are disclosed relating to techniques for RTS/CTS usage in a wireless network. According to an example embodiment, a network performance may be measured within a wireless network. A variety of parameters may be measured at a wireless node to determine a network performance. In addition, it may be determined whether the network performance has reached a degraded performance threshold. A frame is transmitted via the wireless network. If the network performance has reached the degraded performance threshold, the frame may be transmitted using a Request-to-Send/Clear-to-Send (RTS/CTS) protection. In another example embodiment, a frame may be transmitted using RTS/CTS protection if an estimated transmission time for the frame exceeds a transmission time threshold.

摘要: Various embodiments are disclosed relating to beacon transmissions in wireless networks. In an example embodiment, a wireless node may receive a beacon from one or more wireless nodes. The receiving node may generate and transmit a beacon map to other wireless nodes in the network. The beacon map may provide information relating to one or more of the received beacons, such as a time stamp or other time information for the beacon and the originating wireless node for the beacon, such as an address of the originating wireless node. In an example embodiment, the beacon map may be transmitted upon request or within a beacon, or within another message. In another example embodiment, a beacon map may be received at a receiving wireless node, including information relating to beacons from one or more other wireless nodes. A status of at least one of the beacons may be determined based upon the beacon map.
